description
Our Turkey self catering accommodation cottages are on Turkey's south west coastline. Lycia is of breathtaking beauty, with pine-covered slopes rising straight out of the Mediterranean. Beneath these lime stone heights hide deserted coves, once anchorage for pilgrims en route to the Holy Land. The accommodation is situated in a village 12 km south of the resort of Oludeniz in the foothills of Babadag, above one such cove. Our nine cottages are of different sizes and sleep from 2-7 people. They are built in local style from stone and timber, have well equipped open-plan kitchens with gas cookers and refrigerators. All living rooms have working fireplaces with wood stacked behind each cottage, also used for the boilers which provide hot water for the cottages shower rooms.

Each cottage has its own patio giving panoramic views over the village fields where the horizon meets the sea. Farmhouse accommodation - The original building is a 250 year old farmhouse with handcrafted cedar beams, doors and window frames set in local stone. There are 8 rooms in the house. The facilities are communal and the farmhouse is used by passing walkers, and kids who prefer not to share with their parents! Local Lycian sites of Xanthos, Pinara, Letoon and Tlos are all within easy reach. For those who enjoy walking down (and up!) there are many local isolated beaches. A 2 hour walk takes you down to Butterfly Valley en route for Oludeniz. There are mountain bikes for those who are keen to cycle.
travellers' tales
The farm is one of the most peaceful, beautiful and relaxing places we have ever been to. Anthea and Bob are very friendly, informative and helpful hosts. (more)
rooms, food and facilities
There is a large restaurant and bar, though most people prefer to take breakfast or afternoon tea on the terrace overlooking the swimming pool. The terrace has been constructed in the style of a Turkish Teahouse, beside the teahouse is a good library and small shop. The pottery room provides local clay and the use of a turkish wheel, and we have reconstructed the turkish bath. Five of the cottages have two bedrooms and the remaining four, though having a single bedroom, have large living rooms with space for sofa beds.
how to find us
We are situated in a village 12 km south of the resort of Oludeniz in the foothills of Babadag, above one such cove. At 1000 metres her limestone heights are home to a village of the same name, 'Karaagac' (Turkish for Black Tree) where farmers still eke out a living tending their goats and growing tobacco. Access to Karaagac by road is up a 19 km scenic route off the Fethiye- Kas highway. The local Airport, Dalaman is a 2 and half hours drive. The local ports of Fethiye, Kas and Kalkan are just over an hour away.
how this holiday makes a difference
The cottages are located in an area 'off the beaten track' and provide a means for the local community to obtain self sufficiency. The cottages and communal buildings blend in with the landscape, using local stone and timber.

The complex is run in a socially and environmentally sustainable manner employing only local people and operating in tandem with the physical environment. Bread is made daily, organically grown food is served to the guests, waste food is fed to the animals and their manure is used on the fields. Bottles and cans are recycled, plastics and metal are collected by the scrap merchant. All non-plastic burnables are used to produce hot water, with solar panels providing the electricity for outside lighting. On arrival all guests are informed of the necessary steps they can take to ensure they have a minimal negative impact on the surrounding environment.

Tourism can be good and bad for destinations & local people.

We carefully screen every holiday against our criteria for responsible travel.

'Look behind the brochure' to find how each holiday makes a difference (see left).

We don't claim to be perfect - there is no global accreditation - but we've led the way since 2001 and screened 1000's of holidays.

We invite every traveller to write a review about their experiences and responsible tourism.

This valuable feedback is sent to the people who run the holidays. We keep a very close eye on it and take off holidays that don't live up to our standards.
