description
Sorry this project is no longer available.
Pachmarhi will fascinate the conservationist and explorer alike. The Park is home to the full range of species including Indian Bison, Bluebull, Sambar, Spotted Deer, Sloth Bear, Leopard and Tiger. Surrounded by ravines and waterfalls, we believe the area is unparalleled in India for its beauty. Numerous walks of varying length and difficulty present breathtaking views and the more adventurous can spend days pool hopping along streams that flow through deep-cut gorges. Forays in Satpura National Park can also be arranged which is both a wild and tranquil world with an abundance of birdlife.
The guests are hosted by Geoff and Cherrie who look after and inform visitors about the wonders of the surrounding area, and provide an insight into living in rural India

rooms, food and facilities
All eight rooms have en-suite facilities, the general rule when staying in Pachmarhi is to bring the absolute minimum - cotton clothing will 'breath' well and will absorb and then aid the evaporation of perspiration. There is nowhere to 'pose' and the local Dhobi (washerman) will destroy anything of a delicate nature albeit he charges only pennies to do it!

At Life Force 100% of of charity funds go directly to conservation, the tourism enterprise provides the financial means to continue the project and provide an enlightening experience. Tiger conservation is people conservation, at the top of the food chain the tiger is an index of health for the whole ecosystem, Life Force has brought the following benefits to the community, school rooms and equipment, medical care and financial and practical support for the development of sustainable projects amongst the community.
Life Force is making every effort in the central highlands of Madhya Pradesh to preserve the tiger and it's habitat, we recognise that conservation will only be long term if it takes into account the needs of local people. Its work follows an holistic strategy which includes supporting the Forest Guards, providing educational and medical support to villagers and developing 'ecodevelopment' co-operative schemes between locals and the Forest Department which bring all-round benefit to all species. We endeavor wherever possible to avoid harming the environment around us. To this end we would request that all visitors attempt to minimise (if not avoid) the use of soaps, cosmetics and other substances containing ingredients which may be harmful to the area when released into the air, discarded, or poured down the drains. |
Tourism can be good and bad for destinations & local people. We carefully screen every holiday against our criteria for responsible travel. 'Look behind the brochure' to find how each holiday makes a difference (see left). We don't claim to be perfect - there is no global accreditation - but we've led the way since 2001 and screened 1000's of holidays. We invite every traveller to write a review about their experiences and responsible tourism. This valuable feedback is sent to the people who run the holidays. We keep a very close eye on it and take off holidays that don't live up to our standards. |
