how this holiday makes a difference
Turtle Protection
The existing lighting system at the hotel has been replaced by motion sensor lighting which will create a dark, naturally lit beach, designed to ensure that the turtles that lay their eggs on the beach, and those that hatch are not confused by unnatural light sources. All the lighting in the beach front restaurant has been repositioned to give minimal impact on the beach. We implemented planting of Goats Foot Yam (Turtle friendly) vegetation, to encourage Turtles nesting. Recently guests from the hotel witnessed young turtles long trek to the sea and they were thrilled and very interested in what was being done and taught. This has shown that all our hard work and initiatives did make a deference.

The management and staff aim to educate all hotel visitors on the importance of the preservation of the marine environment. The hotel has instituted an ongoing reef conservation programme that enhances safe sea bathing snorkelling and diving. A daily Marine Environmental programme is offered to all guests free of charge (including snorkelling equipment) This exciting snorkelling safari is conducted by an expert instructor, who will point out interesting species of fish, coral, sponges, and organisms. To conclude the educational the guests will be able to interact with the fish by feeding those within the hotel's own marine reserve. This programme has been designed for all age groups, swimmers and non-swimmers.

A series of other educational programmes concerning the marine environment is conducted on a regular basis and the Management of the resort is more than happy to provide you with details of these.

Tourism can be good and bad for destinations & local people.

We carefully screen every holiday against our criteria for responsible travel.

'Look behind the brochure' to find how each holiday makes a difference (see left).

We don't claim to be perfect - there is no global accreditation - but we've led the way since 2001 and screened 1000's of holidays.

We invite every traveller to write a review about their experiences and responsible tourism.

This valuable feedback is sent to the people who run the holidays. We keep a very close eye on it and take off holidays that don't live up to our standards.
