description
This rural guesthouse is ideally located in the heart of the unspoilt Portuguese countryside, away from mass tourism. It consists of various renovated rustic buildings, in which simple but comfortable accommodation is offered.
The complex is situated amidst 4 acres of rural countryside - with an abundance of old almond, olive and fig trees. There is also a limited possibility for camping.A daily breakfast is being served and from April through September we offer a communal diner 4 times a week.
The guesthouse is situated on the south west corner point of the Algarve, 9 km NW of the historical town of Lagos and at walking distance from of Barão de São João, an old authentic Portuguese village with a couple of grocery shops and a few friendly cafes and restaurants.
Along the south coast you will find beautiful fishing villages, like Burgau and Salema. It is only a half hour drive to the west coast with its unspoilt beaches and beautiful views. It is an ideal place to escape from daily stress and enjoy peace and quiet. Several activities on personal development are being offered. travellers' tales
We really enjoyed our family holiday in this accommodation in Portugal, they have a very professional team over there and are so accommodating and family-orientated. (more)
rooms, food and facilities
Rooms, apartments, camping facilities - daily breakfast, dinner 4 days a week (April – Sept only) - saltwater pool - guide books with walking trails - transfer service.Well being: We offer the possibility to combine your holiday with workshops, courses or consultations in the area of personal development and creativity. The place is also ideal for individual retreats, to rest from daily stress or to work at some creative or artistic project. Individual consultations are available including: counselling, coaching & counselling walks, homeopathy, astrology & massage
We also offer an inspiring individual week called "In your Authentic Power". Guided by a professional coach/counselor, you will work out your personal dilemma's whilst walking in nature. This week is a powerful combination of relaxing, gaining new energy and at the same time working on ones personal growth with the help of mother nature. Other individual weeks cover combinations of walking and biking in beautiful rural and nature parts of southern Portugal.
We also have a working space for groups, and offer a variety of a variety of year round 5-day holiday courses. Subjects range from yoga and other health and well-being issues to film/video production and other multimedia skills.
Yoga: Yoga lessons are given twice a week, on Tuesday from 10 am till 11.30 am and Friday from 5.30 pm till 7 pm. Fee: €7 for a single lesson, €20 a month for 1 lesson a week and €35 a month for 2 lessons a week.
Hiking: We are able to recommend some good hiking routes. For those without their own transport we can help you reach some nice areas. There are various hikes, some along cliffs and beaches, others inland hiking through beautiful pine trees, cork oaks and "medronheiros", or through the eucalyptus forests of the Monchique mountains.
Biking: We have some communal bikes for your use, however don't expect top quality. If you want a professional bike we advise you to rent a mountain bike in Lagos. You can book a "downhill on a mountain bike" day trip, leading from the Monchique mountains through beautiful scenery down to the coast.
how this holiday makes a difference
We keep the complex small, running it with full respect for the natural environment. We separate garbage, collect hot water from solar energy and live in close contact with the local community, who we provide work at our complex and direct our clients to for shopping and meals. Currently we are building with ecological material, which is called adobe.

Tourism can be good and bad for destinations & local people. We carefully screen every holiday against our criteria for responsible travel. 'Look behind the brochure' to find how each holiday makes a difference (see left). We don't claim to be perfect - there is no global accreditation - but we've led the way since 2001 and screened 1000's of holidays. We invite every traveller to write a review about their experiences and responsible tourism. This valuable feedback is sent to the people who run the holidays. We keep a very close eye on it and take off holidays that don't live up to our standards. |
