Casperia is a unique medieval village lying in the heart of the Sabina mountains of Lazio. It is totally pedestrian and free from car fumes and pollution. The atmosphere takes you back to days long gone by.
It is a place of natural beauty surrounded by olive groves, vineyards and forest-covered mountains. Being a hilltop village you can watch the changing scenery of the countryside and mountains from every angle, while the night sky over Casperia is a star-covered phenomenon not to be missed! The village boasts a small grocery store, cafe and bar inside the medieval fortified walls, and another café-bar, large supermarket and pharmacy. There is also a bank with cash-point facility, restaurant, fresh pasta shop and bakery just beyond the walls. We have easy access to Rome, (1hr), and Rome Airport's just 1hr 30min away.
Our accommodation is is a great place to visit in the winter months, as it is fully central heated, with self catering facilities, sauna ...also holistic treatments can be arranged from Aromatherapy to La Stone massage.

One of these levels houses a cave over 1000 years old which is a historic feature of the village; this cave has now been converted into a beautiful and unusual bathroom. There is also a single loft room en-suite, and a small twin loft room en-suite, both with skylights and panoramic views over the rolling hills of Sabina. A spiral staircase leads from each level to the terrace where you can enjoy the spectacular panoramic views and experience the wonderful sunset each evening over Casperia. how this holiday makes a difference
|
We support the local community economically by bringing our groups to medieval hilltop locations rural areas in Italy and employing local people.
Local businesses benefit from our visitors from local craft shops to local farmers as our visitors live alongside local people and buy from the local community. Also our profits help to support festivals and local functions yearly. We aim to continue to promote eco tourism and protection of nature. To promote eco tourism and traditional organic methods of farming we work along side the WWF and other anti hunting organizations in protecting the Sabina mountains fauna and Flora and in the rest of Italy and worldwide as a whole. We give directions to guests for local nature reserves, wild streams, wild sulphur springs, mountains and woodlands. We explain to our visitors the functioning and cycle of the flora and fauna of these places. We work alongside local people as our groups are small and have a theme of relaxation and eco tourism. |
Tourism can be good and bad for destinations & local people. We carefully screen every holiday against our criteria for responsible travel. 'Look behind the brochure' to find how each holiday makes a difference (see left). We don't claim to be perfect - there is no global accreditation - but we've led the way since 2001 and screened 1000's of holidays. We invite every traveller to write a review about their experiences and responsible tourism. This valuable feedback is sent to the people who run the holidays. We keep a very close eye on it and take off holidays that don't live up to our standards. |
