description
High quality WTB five star holiday accommodation at Borth, near Aberystwyth - a great area for touring, walking, water sports, golf, fishing, cycling or just lying on the long, sandy beach and exploring the rock pools.
This is a small, peaceful caravan and chalet park on the edge of the seaside village of Borth, six miles from the university town of Aberystwyth and a half hour drive from the Centre for Alternative Technology at Machynlleth. The park is the first in Wales to hold membership of Green Globe and a David Bellamy Gold Conservation Award.
Thoughtful landscaping and mass planting of hundreds of indigenous flowers, herbs and shrubs, as well as sub-tropical palms and yuccas have made it the prettiest and most colourful park in Ceredigion. Wild flowers grow in harmony with the planted environment and there is an abundance of butterflies and birds.

travellers' tales
The beautiful scenery of the Dovey estuary and Cambrian coast unfolding before us every time we looked out of the window, made extra special by the amazing colours of a dry, sunny, late autumn. (more)
rooms, food and facilities
The thirteen caravans (sleep 4-6) vary in size and number of bedrooms from a 25x10ft two-bedroom to a 36x12ft three-bedroom. All have shower, WC, full cooker, fridge, colour TV, duvets, electric kettles, toasters and vacuum cleaners as standard. The larger units have extras - microwaves, video-recorders and full bedding. Both chalets (sleep 6) are double glazed and insulated, and have one double bedroom, one twin-bedded room, one room with single bed plus high bed at right angles to maximise space, and bathroom with combined full bath and shower. The lounge, dining room and kitchen are open-plan and from the veranda you can admire the views whilst enjoying your meal.
The chalets are equipped with colour TV and DVD player, full size cooker, microwave, coffee-maker, toaster, fridge-freezer, vacuum cleaner and electric heating in all rooms. The beds are made up with cotton sheets and duvet covers for your arrival.
Family friendly accommodation: Cots are provided free of charge on request. There is a small private play area with swings, climbing frame etc. for young children. Buckets, spades, fishing nets etc. are on loan free of charge, as are information books on birds, insects, marine life, butterflies, etc. There are David Bellamy posters in the laundrette where children can enter the wild flowers, birds or animals spotted on the park during their holiday.
Disabled friendly accommodation: It has always been our intention to the Holiday Park accessible to everyone. Most caravans have parking for one car alongside, Caravan F is adapted for wheelchair users, and wheelchairs/oxygen bottles etc. can be arranged and a TV with teletext provided for visitors with hearing impairment if notice is given.
As the Reception Office is located in the family house and difficult for those with mobility impairment to access, arrangements will be made for holiday makers to go straight to the caravan where they will be met as soon as possible after their arrival. As it has not been possible to modify the launderette for wheelchair users due to the lack of space, arrangements can be made in advance for regular collection of laundry. If telephone access is needed, a mobile can be borrowed from Reception. As always, should there be a medical emergency during the night, we are always willing to assist in any way we can.

We are situated in an area of outstanding natural beauty and the owners are committed to ensuring that every effort is made to preserve this environment and to encourage our guests to participate in this effort. The park is the first in Wales to hold membership of Green Globe and a David Bellamy Gold Conservation Award. Lighting: The lighting at the park is the minimum needed for your safety. Long-life bulbs are used in all the public areas and many of the low lights are solar powered. It would be appreciated if you could turn off any unnecessary lights in your caravan/chalets whenever possible. Water: In order to conserve water, the cisterns in the WCs are fitted with water savers. Although there are hosepipes near the fire points on the park, we would be grateful if you would not use these for washing your vehicle. A bucket can be provided on request. Wildlife: Over the years, the range of birds and animals has increased dramatically. Nest boxes are provided in discreet areas of the park and the hedgerows are left undisturbed until late summer. Squirrels, rabbits and hedgehogs are regular visitors to the play area. Children are encouraged to identify and enjoy the wildlife and there are information posters available in the laundrette. Outside the park, on the beach and in the surrounding countryside, there is also an excellent opportunity to enjoy the wildlife and again, there is information available, both in the laundrette and also in Reception. Flowers, shrubs and trees: Wild flower seeds have been sown on the play area and near the hedgerows. Some of these have self-seeded into the flower beds and are encouraged to blend in naturally with the cultivated plants. Many of our plants and shrubs have been chosen deliberately to attract butterflies. It would be appreciated if children could be prevented from picking the flowers.Re-cycling: All organic waste is converted into compost and fed back into the ground. There are bins near the front entrance for glass and for cans. |
Tourism can be good and bad for destinations & local people. We carefully screen every holiday against our criteria for responsible travel. 'Look behind the brochure' to find how each holiday makes a difference (see left). We don't claim to be perfect - there is no global accreditation - but we've lead the way since 2001 and screened 1000's of holidays. We invite every traveller to write a review about their experiences and responsible tourism. This valuable feedback is sent to the people who run the holidays. We keep a very close eye on it and take off holidays that don't live up to our standards. |
