description
This 17th Century house is located in a beautiful setting overlooking the sea & offers family-style accommodation.

The former convent, 70m above the sea, is enclosed in a remarkably large private property between olive groves and fields of vegetables. The air is filled with the perfume of tropical scents - the silence broken only by the sounds of the sea, the wind and wild birds.

What's peculiar to our region is to have both Mediterranean and high Alpine landscapes. There are enchanting beaches within walking distance and a 20 minute drive in the opposite direction takes you to villages at 6000 ft.

The picturesque French and Italian villages provide an opportunity for walking and sightseeing as well as food and wine tastings. Our family supports the promotion of sustainable development on this coastal strip, respecting environmental, scenic, historical, and archaeological characteristics

travellers' tales
The most memorable part was Pier! He owned the B&B and was very helpful. He cooked wonderful breakfasts each morning that allowed us to sample a range of Italian food. He recommended places to go in the day and places to eat in the evening.  (more)

how this holiday makes a difference
Staying at our Italian Riviera hotel has a direct benefit on our area and its population. Local farmers, families running small restaurants, independent crafters and artists and young, talented people increase their job opportunities thanks to our guests.

Places otherwise known only to local insiders become popular and this benefits all the people living there. All this is managed with the utmost care to safeguard the local environment.

Environmental Benefits
Our environmentally conscious approach applies to everything. To start with we only purchase organic food from growers and people in order to support sustainable practices. Food leftovers are used to feed our chickens and rabbits. We compost all our organic wastes to produce humus and manure which we re-use. Waste water is re-used as much as possible and subsequently dissipated in the ground according to environment-friendly techniques that contribute to the preservation of precious drinking water.

Economic Benefits
We strive to increase local employment opportunities by:
  • Encouraging the spread of sustainable tourism throughout the region. This includes supporting existing organizations, mainly co-operatives of young, talented people that wouldn't otherwise find work in an area which has few industries.
  • Using local food and wine which we by directly from producers. We encourage our guests to eat at local trattories and can recommend visits to wineries and oil mills.
  • Encouraging young local people to take up their abandoned plots of land in order make a living from agriculture. This also revitalises local villages, preventing them from decay.
  • Arousing new interest about old and new crafts which use local raw materials and ancient techniques. The aim is to provide a large number of new jobs to the young people who are presently forced to find work elsewhere.
  • Tourism can be good and bad for destinations & local people.

We carefully screen every holiday against our criteria for responsible travel.

'Look behind the brochure' to find how each holiday makes a difference (see left).

We don't claim to be perfect - there is no global accreditation - but we've lead the way since 2001 and screened 1000's of holidays.

We invite every traveller to write a review about their experiences and responsible tourism.

This valuable feedback is sent to the people who run the holidays. We keep a very close eye on it and take off holidays that don't live up to our standards.
