description
Our lodge is located in an elevated position in the heart of the village. The house is more than 100 years old and has recently been restored with funding from and under the supervision of the conservation department. While preserving the architectural heritage the house has been adapted for its new use. The old furniture remains, adding charm and contributing to the original atmosphere of the house.
Set in the heart of the Troodos mountains the lodge is ideal for providing families, friends, and couples a respite from their busy lives. Visitors to the lodge can sample the tranquillity and beauty of the area, relax and enjoy the opportunities offered by the village's proximity to forest walks, riverside footpaths, and Byzantine history and culture.
The house is on three levels, each with unspoilt views of the forested mountain. Each apartment has its own entrance, balcony and patio. This arrangement ensures the privacy of guests while facilitating group residence and activities. The resident proprietor's rooms are large enough to provide comfortable accommodation.
The original main living area of the house is located on the first level, with the outside yard as the traditional workplace. Here the former residents used to prepare and preserve a variety of Cypriot foods and other edible products, e.g. bread baked in the outdoor oven, soujouko, wine, zivania, trachana, and many others.
We aim to maintain this tradition by continuing the preparation of these products using the original methods.
Walking holidays:
E4 natural trail is the European path that starts from Spain, passes through south Europe and ends in Cyprus. From Treis Elies someone can walk a big part of that trail passing through rivers and Venetian Bridges. We can provide information and maps and even lift at the end point.

how this holiday makes a difference
|
Our lodge was the first old house to be restored in the village, with the intention of preserving the architectural heritage and promoting the concept of sustainable communities. Through offering alternative holidays and environmentally friendly activities we have pioneered investment in the village through cooperation with and by encouraging local businesses. The presence of our guests in the village has restored life to a community which was facing the prospect of a gradually declining population due to the age of the inhabitants.
The establishment of the lodge in Treis Elies provides visitors with easy access to the unspoilt natural environment and heritage of this isolated village, at reasonable cost. Through the use of environmental principles and our guests' activities we foster a harmonious relationship between our visitors and the local population. In keeping with this philosophy the lodge accepts a maximum of 10 guests. |
Tourism can be good and bad for destinations & local people. We carefully screen every holiday against our criteria for responsible travel. 'Look behind the brochure' to find how each holiday makes a difference (see left). We don't claim to be perfect - there is no global accreditation - but we've led the way since 2001 and screened 1000's of holidays. We invite every traveller to write a review about their experiences and responsible tourism. This valuable feedback is sent to the people who run the holidays. We keep a very close eye on it and take off holidays that don't live up to our standards. |
