introduction to Croatia self catering accommodation in Klek
Two story houses of 60 square meters each. The houses lie 40 meters from the water a little up the mountain giving splendid unbroken views of the sea from the balconies at the front. All houses were completely renovated and re-furnished in the spring of 2003 and have air condition, satellite TV, washing machine, living room with open kitchen (fully furnished), two bedrooms (2 and 4 beds).
At the back of the house there is a large terrace providing shade in the afternoon and the possibility to BBQ at night. There are further two terraces at the back. There are three garden terraces including the stone paved terrace. One has citrus trees and the upper one has vegetables (free for guests to help themselves).
The back terrace and garden (where there is a family of turtles living!) faces east so there is shade from noon onwards. The terrace is shared by the four houses but each house has a private roofed terrace in front of the house. The front terrace and the balcony have sea view and are facing west and are in the sun from noon onwards.
The village lies in the bay of Mali Ston engulfed by the mainland and the peninsula of Peljesac whose coasts are dotted with small uninhabited islands, reefs and cliffs offering a spectacular view much like Southern Thailand or Greece.

traveller reviews for Croatia self catering accommodation in Klek
Absolutely beautiful location. Clear warm seas and two nice beaches. The accommodation was very comfortable and really accessible to the waterfront and beach. (more)
rooms, food and facilities
Family friendly:
The house has a garden (unusual in a Croatian seaside village) and is fully equipped for a family to cater for all their needs. The place is safe because it is small and because the local people are taking care of children – no matter where they belong. We have a selection of toys, games and books and for the odd day of rain we have a DVD player and a couple of movies suitable for children.Baby friendly:
We have a microwave oven, cots and high chairs are also available.
Over 50's holidays:
Our houses will sleep 4 people in two bedrooms, and are well suited for the over 50's. Our location on the mainland in the border zone between Croatia and Bosnia-Herzegovina has so much to offer: Wine, sea food, history, culture, tranquillity, no tourist industry and an unspoiled village with more locals than tourists - especially outside July and August.
how to find us:
By air: Nearest airports are Dubrovnik (80 km) and Split (130 km).By train: Nearest railway station is Ploce, 20 km away.
By road: Komarna is on the Croatian coast 70 kilometres North of Dubrovnik and 3 km north of the popular holiday town Klek.
how this holiday makes a difference
We only employ local people and all revenue from sightseeing and additional services goes directly to the local people. We support local activities like ”Fisherman’s Night” the football field and beach cleaning. We talk and act to protect the environment, to keep it clean, to conserve water and electricity. We have created a comprehensive guidebook (50+ pages under constant revision) where our guests can read about local culture, history and customs and where you get introduction to the Croatian language. Our guests leave very satisfied and happy and this is how we get more tourists and increase business in an area where there is about 30% official unemployment. |
Tourism can be good and bad for destinations & local people. We carefully screen every holiday against our criteria for responsible travel. 'Look behind the brochure' to find how each holiday makes a difference (see left). We don't claim to be perfect - there is no global accreditation - but we've led the way since 2001 and screened 1000's of holidays. We invite every traveller to write a review about their experiences and responsible tourism. This valuable feedback is sent to the people who run the holidays. We keep a very close eye on it and take off holidays that don't live up to our standards. |
