description
We are a registered non profit organisation and the accommodation we provide helps to cover the running cost of the wildlife orphanage and the education of local underprivileged children. This camp is situated in the Limpopo Province which extends north to Zimbawe (Limpopo River) and East to Mozambique (bordering Kruger Park). Two thirds of the world famous Kruger Park are in the Province. Comprising a working wildlife orphanage it offers a unique experience and is ideal for children, wildlife and nature lovers alike. There are four comfortable chalets (round brick buildings with thatched roofs). Each chalet has one double bed and two single beds. This can be changed to four single beds in each if necessary or extra beds can be added on request.

Bed linen, towels etc. are provided. Each chalet has hot and cold water, paraffin lamps for lighting, toilet and shower. We are a registered non profit company. This is a wildlife orphanage where the objective is to have teams to provide the nursing for the animals. We also focus on our local underprivileged children by giving them education about wildlife and environment and supplement the school curriculum in English, math and geography. The motto is to “make a plan” so that people with disabilities have a similar life enriching experience. Guests have the opportunity to become involved with educating the children and caring for the animals if they wish. Alternatively sit back, relax and enjoy the surrounding nature.

There are many things to do in the local area. Two of the main entrances to the Kruger Park (Phalaborwa Gate and Orpen Gate) are an hour away. There is a reptile park - Moholoholo Rehab centre where they concentrate on eagles, vultures etc but have many other animals such as hippo, cheetah, lion and leopard. There is also a centre for endangered species in the area who specialize in breeding cheetah.

Big-five reserves surround this accommodation and game drives and morning walks can be arranged locally. One hour away is the Blyde River Canyon from where you can see the “Three Rondavels” (three spectacular mountains). Below these mountains is the Swadini Dam from where boat trips with stunning scenery can be organised.

how this holiday makes a difference
We are primarily a conservation education medium, using orphaned wildlife. This is spread to the local community, schools and the under-privileged through our sponsorship. We believe that responsible conservation comes from responsible education. It is all very well being taught about conservation, but to really make an impact there should be care and compassion, which is sadly lacking, particularly in the rural community who primarily see wild animals as a source of food and income, hence the large poaching problem.

No segregation by race, colour, class, physical ability or creed. Everyone has an equal opportunity and learn to work together. By working as a team, we try to remove any stigma that may be attached to different people. With our motto of “make a plan” the team tries to overcome any disadvantages of other team mates. Our main policy of “doing good” will be a guide line in the life of participants and visitors. We hope that these two tenets will make a difference not only to the participants, but be spread worldwide.

By paying for accommodation and staying at the camp, you will be supplying the means for us to support the orphaned wildlife and to sponsor the under-privileged. This in turn will increase education in conservation, and spread the concept of the “make a plan” and “doing good” policy.

Tourism can be good and bad for destinations & local people.

We carefully screen every holiday against our criteria for responsible travel.

'Look behind the brochure' to find how each holiday makes a difference (see left).

We don't claim to be perfect - there is no global accreditation - but we've led the way since 2001 and screened 1000's of holidays.

We invite every traveller to write a review about their experiences and responsible tourism.

This valuable feedback is sent to the people who run the holidays. We keep a very close eye on it and take off holidays that don't live up to our standards.
