Welcome to our Lodge where since 1960 we have been hosting scuba divers, nature lovers, & friends at our island getaway in the Bahamas.
What is your idea of the perfect island vacation?
If it is scuba diving one of the largest and most unexplored barrier reefs in the world, great snorkeling, superb bonefishing, laying in a hammock, exploring nature, having a cold kalik, strolling on the beach, reading a good book, meeting interesting people, spending time with your family, or by yourself, I think that we have the place for you ...
This small Bahamas all-inclusive resort is more than just another Bahamas hotel, we are the most established dive resort in the Caribbean. Our environment is very safe, peaceful, secluded, and a great romantic getaway. Come join us for a new adventure, a true Bahamas experience, a family vacation, a relaxing holiday retreat on the beach, or the Caribbean vacation of your dreams.
Our all inclusive price includes: "Discover Scuba" or refresher lessons for scuba diving and snorkeling, self-guided nature walks, windsurfers (including a state-of-the art Hi-Fly Board for experienced board-heads!), Escape sailboat, kayaks, bicycles (including maps & suggested itineraries), and hot tub on the beach.
Other activities: Hammocking (ask us if you're new to this!), snorkelling (day trips & plenty of great snorkelling from the shore), fishing (bonefish & tarpon fly fishing, reef fishing, deep sea fishing, overnight camping trips), guided eco-tours, shopping (e.g. Androsia Batik Factory) and massage.
Scuba diving: The Bahamas Andros Barrier Reef is the third longest and one of the most unexplored reef systems in the world. We have 4 dive boats, 6 instructors and 1 assistant, and leave right from our dock on the property - no long boat rides, to over 60 sites! For beginners, the Lodge offers complimentary Discover Scuba lessons (aged 10 years and older), as well as complete Open Water certification. The PADI Open Water Course, Adventure and Advanced Open Water are offered regularly. We also offer SDI/TDI and NAUI training and referrals are gladly accepted from all certifying agencies. Other advanced specialty certifications are available, please contact us for details.
Birdwatching: More than 300 species of birds have been recorded in the Bahamas - 109 species breed in the Bahamas, 169 species are migrants or winter here, and 45 species are endemic. Some, like the Greater Flamingo and the Bahama race of the Cuban Parrot, can only be found in the wild on one or two of the islands.
We can recommend fabulous birding locations and host birding groups throughout the year. Please contact us for details.
Weddings & honeymoons: Get married on the beach in a simple ceremony by the sea. We'll arrange it all, plus a reception for up to forty of your closest friends. All you have to do is show up! Please contact us for details about weddings & honeymoon packages.

travellers' tales
This lodge felt like being 15 years old again and going to an ocean science camp. Very warm interaction among couples, families and dive staff every night over unlimited cocktails and conch fritters. (more)
rooms, food and facilities
This is an informal holiday resort that focuses around the central lodge built of coral rock and Andros pine. Comfortable couches and throw-pillows create a friendly home-like atmosphere. The Lodge houses a dining area, lounge/bar area, game room and reading room. There is also a small boutique on the premises, a separate building for office administration and guest services and a staffed laundry facility. There is an outdoor patio bar and dining area for summer-night barbecues.
There are no phones (phone/fax/internet for guest use in the office), no newspapers and no TVs. Emphasis is on a natural environment with relaxing, low-impact lifestyle. There is no dress code -- bare feet, T-shirts, sarongs, anything (except neckties) is acceptable.Rooms: Our 21 rooms are in our cottages on the beach, each handbuilt of coral rock and Andros Pine. Rooms have overhead ceiling fans (half of the rooms have air-conditioning), locally made furniture, Androsia Batik fabrics and all have a view of the sea. There are 4 two-bedroom cottages for families, as well as a special "honeymoon cottage."
King-size and single beds are available and each has private toilet/shower facilities and is fully tiled. All are shaded by palms and to the north of the cottages is a separate secluded swimming beach.
Family friendly: We have 4 two-bedroom /1 bathroom family cottages which work very well and allow the parents some privacy during their vacation. These cottages will easily accommodate 2 adults and 2/3 children, and for people with one small child, we would normally chose a larger private cabin and bring in an Androsia screen and extra single bed or cot for free. Children under 10 eat their evening meal in our games room together with our babysitters so the adults get some 'adult time' and the kids time to be kids!
Babysitting is complimentary for children aged 2 - 9 years from 6-8.30pm. There is a nominal babysitting fee (US $7 per hr) for children under 2 as we get them their own babysitter during the cocktail/dinner hours.
Our rates are all-inclusive. Child rates apply for children 15 years or under, children under 2 stay free, and all must be with 2 paying adults to qualify for the reduced children's rates. During the summer months we waive that requirement and welcome single parents to come with their children.
Pet friendly: Please contact us in advance if you would like to bring your pet. The only cost associated with bringing your pet is a US $25 non-refundable cleaning fee per stay.
how to find us:
Getting to Andros is very easy and although we are a bit remote, that is part of the beauty! We are able to arrange direct flights from either Fort Lauderdale International (FLL, 4 flights per week with Continental Connection, 1 hour) or Nassau (NAS, twice daily with Western Air, 12 minute flight) to Andros Town airport (ASD - also known as Fresh Creek). This is a great location for private pilots and private charters.how this holiday makes a difference

We are one of the few hotels in the Bahamas that has a formal Environmental Management System in place. We support ANCAT (The Andros Conservancy and Trust) which is responsible for establishing the largest national park in the Bahamas, part of which is right off the coast line of the Lodge. The Andros Park is both marine and terrestrial preserving our reef system, mangrove areas, and land crab breeding grounds. Several staff members of are on the board of ANCAT and we do their website free of charge. We have always been active in the community.
All of our development has been in tune with the environment and we are active supporters of Junior Achievement. We adhere to sound development practices sensitive to the natural environment, and strive to maintain environmental integrity through wise and sustainable resource management. We share these development practices and the benefits derived throughout the community, and support opportunities for economic viability in conjunction with environmental and cultural integrity. Beyond this, we exist for our visitors, to offer them the chance to experience in the most honest way we know, the natural life systems of Andros. |
Tourism can be good and bad for destinations & local people. We carefully screen every holiday against our criteria for responsible travel. 'Look behind the brochure' to find how each holiday makes a difference (see left). We don't claim to be perfect - there is no global accreditation - but we've lead the way since 2001 and screened 1000's of holidays. We invite every traveller to write a review about their experiences and responsible tourism. This valuable feedback is sent to the people who run the holidays. We keep a very close eye on it and take off holidays that don't live up to our standards. |
