  • how this holiday makes a difference
We source most of our produce locally, both for breakfast and in the restaurant thereby supporting the village bakery, supermarket and other local businesses. zum Glankowirt is a popular social venue for villagers, ensuring our guests get a real feel for the village and its inhabitants.

We employ only local people to staff the hotel and restaurant and endeavour to use local guides for all activities provided.

Together with our local guides we always stress the importance of being environmentally friendly and educate and encourage our guests to be aware of the dangers and consequences of their actions by discarding their litter and taking nature for granted.

We use notices in all bathrooms asking guests to consider their use of water, a precious natural commodity. We recycle cardboard, all cans, plastic bottles, glass, books, newspapers and magazines, using the facilities and services provided by the local authority.

Tourism can be good and bad for destinations & local people.

We carefully screen every holiday against our criteria for responsible travel.

'Look behind the brochure' to find how each holiday makes a difference (see left).

We don't claim to be perfect - there is no global accreditation - but we've led the way since 2001 and screened 1000's of holidays.

We invite every traveller to write a review about their experiences and responsible tourism.

This valuable feedback is sent to the people who run the holidays. We keep a very close eye on it and take off holidays that don't live up to our standards.
