description
Our property is a traditional farmhouse dating back from the late Venetian period. Separate parts of the main building of this estate have been refurbished with a lot of finesse and care and converted into three independent, truly atmospheric guesthouses, with old world charm and modern facilities and luxuries. Each villa has a private pool, a capacity for 2-4 guests and is ideal for memorable romantic or family holidays.
The refurbishment project has retained the character and style of the original structure and the surroundings and the result is an eco-friendly lodge and one of the most charming and authentic boutique properties in Crete.
The unique architecture, sophisticated interiors and lush gardens will offer an ideal villa vacation, with moments of pure relaxation close to nature.
The farmhouse is still today flourishing, producing a variety of fruit and is certified for organic agriculture. The surrounding fields are there for you to walk around and collect something fruity.
Our villas are a great little hideaway to do sweet nothing but also an excellent base for getting around, go swimming, hiking, walking or enjoying the attractions of the old town of Chania, that is almost at your doorstep.
The keynote that will highlight your holiday with us is the special attention you will receive, that goes beyond booking an accommodation. From the moment we will welcome you at the airport till when we will say goodbye, we will be at your disposal, assisting you to make the most out of your holiday, offering insider’s tips on day trips, local shops, eateries, craft men, walks and out of the beaten track sights.
The villas are located just 3km from the historic center of Chania town and a 10min drive from the surrounding sandy beaches of Crete. Sights as the famous Samaria Gorge, the Minoan Palace of Knossos, the fascinating Falassarna beach, the villages of the White Mountains and the rugged beaches of the South, are all places you can visit on a day’s tour from the farmhouse.
We regularly offer leisurely organised cooking lessons for our guests to get an insight into regional cuisine, highlighting the simple, seasonal foods of Crete. Friendly and informal, the activity features hands-on instruction, delicious home-cooked food, along with wine and cheese tasting. What better souvenir to take back home than Crete’s real flavors and traditional recipes?
We will also be happy to assist with any special occasion. If you are organising a family reunion in Crete, our 3 villas can be rented collectively for a larger group and we will gladly help you in planning activities and tours for your Crete stay to be unique and memorable. If it is your honeymoon, let us offer these special touches that will make it unforgettable. We also have a long experience in organising Crete weddings in our romantic ambience. Whether it is an intimate ceremony for just the two of you or a larger event with guests coming over to share your big moment, you can rely on our assistance for a classy and elegant touch.
By road: We are 17km away from Chania airport. From the airport you follow the signs to Chania town and then follow the signs to 'Hospital' area. It can be tricky for clients to find us on their own, this is why we offer a complimentary 'meet & greet' service, so upon arrival an assistant meets clients at Chania airport and leads them to the property.

how to find our Crete self catering accommodation
By air: The nearest airport to fly into is Chania (CHQ) with many daily domestic flights from Athens throughout the year and many international charter flights from Europe from April to October. An assistant meets our guests at the airport and takes them to the house.By road: We are 17km away from Chania airport. travellers' tales
Most enjoyable parts of the holiday were the breakfast Manolis brought every day - fresh oranges to squeeze, fresh organic strawberries, raspberries, grapes, olives, bread, yoghurts, goats cheese, milk - need I go on... (more)
rooms, food and facilities
We have designed our villas for the guest who is looking for a special accommodation in Crete, beyond the standard amenities one can find in almost every hotel. If for you luxury is the sense of authenticity and freedom, our guesthouses will be just the right place to stay during your Crete holiday.
The interiors of the three guesthouses are a delightful revelation. Exposed stone walls, arches and rough wood retain their unsophisticated primitiveness and whatever changes have been made with care in preserving the historical character and original beauty of the property. They retain a Mediterranean traditional feeling, without being too rustic, are spacious and offer a level of comfort that equals that of a luxury hotel. Furnished and decorated with style and good taste, they have a designer look.
The aspect of a totally relaxing holiday in Crete close to nature is completed by each villa’s private pool and autonomous patios and gardens.
Every guesthouse has accommodation for up to 4 guests, each one with a different space arrangement. There is a fully equipped kitchen in every unit and facilities include a CD with a good collection of music, ADSL fast internet connection, free of charge. The villas are basically self-catering, but we will regularly stock your refrigerator, at no supplement, with wine, juice, coffee, milk, fruit and a variety of locally sourced delicacies so that you have everything you need for a hearty, healthy breakfast
Rental prices include a daily maid service and other services as baby sitting or laundry are available on request.

how this holiday makes a difference
|
The estate is a flourishing organic farm, producing a variety of fruits. Our guests are offered daily breakfast supplies, organic fruit that we grow and a number of other locally sourced, traditional delicacies.
The guesthouses have been restored according to local architecture and in harmony with the environment. They are run by the family, with the help of local women for cleaning/catering. We try not to waste water and change towels / linen every 2 days or longer.. We encourage maids to close drapes, turn off lights and air conditioning when our guests are out. We use refillable soap and shampoo dispensers, with natural products (from Korres, a small Greek company). We encourage guests to recycle by providing recycling bin for cans, bottles and newspapers. We clean rooms with environmental cleaners to improve indoor air quality. We use no chemicals for landscaping. We have no unnecessary night time lighting. Being very sensitive with the way Crete has been evaded by mass tourism, with results we all have to live with..., we offer guests a good amount of information on how to avoid touristy traps. We recommend local shops, eateries, craftsmen, walks and out of the beaten track sights and in cooperation with a local specialized agent- cultural day trips, cooking lessons and gourmet walks for small groups , so our guests can taste the ‘real’ Crete we know & love. Offering them an insight of the area, its people and customs, we hope to encourage guests to act in a responsible way. |
Tourism can be good and bad for destinations & local people. We carefully screen every holiday against our criteria for responsible travel. 'Look behind the brochure' to find how each holiday makes a difference (see left). We don't claim to be perfect - there is no global accreditation - but we've led the way since 2001 and screened 1000's of holidays. We invite every traveller to write a review about their experiences and responsible tourism. This valuable feedback is sent to the people who run the holidays. We keep a very close eye on it and take off holidays that don't live up to our standards. |
