description
A fine, large traditional 7 bedroom house, immaculately restored in a peaceful village location, sleeping 4 12.
Right on the edge of Üzümlü, at the end of a narrow winding lane, is a high wall and a wooden gate. Open the gate and you enter a calm, green garden, overlooking countryside and in it, a wonderfully restored village house.
Much larger than the average village property, this has always been a special house-possibly the local governors residence in centuries gone by. The current owners are British and have painstakingly renovated this accommodation to reflect both the rural tradition of the village and modern demands for comfort.
It has been renovated using the finest cedar wood, local materials and craftsmen, to create an unique residence of a very high standard. The interior is exceptionally spacious, cool and uncluttered. The infinity swimming pool and terrace is surrounded by a charming walled garden with pomegranate and fig trees, offer natural shade on long, hot summer days.
This accommodation is ideal for families or small groups of friends wanting to relax in comfortable authentic village surroundings.
Please note: Based on return flights from the UK - supplements / reductions may be applicable depending on flight & class availability at time of booking.

how this holiday makes a difference
This wonderful house once lay in ruins until the current owners renovated exactly it to the original footprint only adding on the outside areas as extra. Every material used has been from local sources and the running of the house is managed by people from the village of Uzumlu. The garden plot provides chemical free vegetables for guests and all visitors are encouraged to dine and shop in the village, including the dastar cloth for which the area is famous for. The location of the house really does allow the visitor to Turkey to experience village life and a real insight to Turkey at its very best. A financial contribution is made per passenger booked to local conservation charities, and we also encourage our customers to offset the carbon emissions of their flights. |
Tourism can be good and bad for destinations & local people. We carefully screen every holiday against our criteria for responsible travel. 'Look behind the brochure' to find how each holiday makes a difference (see left). We don't claim to be perfect - there is no global accreditation - but we've led the way since 2001 and screened 1000's of holidays. We invite every traveller to write a review about their experiences and responsible tourism. This valuable feedback is sent to the people who run the holidays. We keep a very close eye on it and take off holidays that don't live up to our standards. |
