In the last 25 years we have rebuilt the property throughout, creating a place with unique character, studios and rehearsal spaces. The location faces the Pyrenees mountains offering fantastic views. On our doorstep, direct from the property, there are many miles of easy walks and mountain bike rides in wild surroundings with lakes, forests, and typical French villages.
Our Pyrenees self catering accommodation is near Mirepoix a fabulous medieval town in the well known area of “Cathares”, a medieval fringe of Christianity that was wiped out by Rome and the Crusades in the 12th century. There are many medieval castles to visit (Montségur, Puivert, Roquefixade), prehistoric sites, and of course the local traditional and cultural events all year round.
Our property is set on a 23ha plot surrounded by forest with fantastic views of the Pyrenees. It's an old 17th century farmhouse which has been renovated throughout. The house offers accommodation which combines the amenities of the modern world with a special rural character and our particular passions - circus, clowns and vintage caravans. A few things make the house even more special. You'll find a sauna, you could have access to a yoga, meditation and dance room - there is lots of space!
The ground floor contains the kitchen and a large living room which is equipped to receive up to 14 people. The living room has a large open fire, a pool table, satellite TV, vidéo, DVD, CD player / radio, inside and outdoor games, books and reviews. There is a large veranda detached from the rest of the house, with windows all around.
Upstairs there are two bedrooms with superb views of the Pyrenees. Each of these rooms contains a double bed and washbasin. In addition to this there is another bedroom with single or double bed. The house has a large bathroom with shower and separate bath. The big open spaces around give access to lots of different tracks for easy walks, biking, horse riding direct from the property, through forest and fields. Our organic garden gives you the opportunity to collect your own seasonal vegetables and fruits.
Family friendly: We do have families ourselves, and provide games, fresh air, space and a healthy environment for children. In high season lots of people in the area provide activities including an adventure park, prehistoric park, bicycle or horse rides, kayaking.
Baby friendly: We have a cot and a potty for babies.

By bus/car : Mirepoix (11km). There is also car hire in Carcassonne, Toulouse and Pamiers.
how this holiday makes a difference
 At our Pyrenees self catering accommodation we use and leave for the individual users environmentally friendly cleaning products, we encourage recycling by our guests. We promote local businesses by having a folder in the house containing their details. We like to advise visiors according their taste with all the best adresses for sport activities, shops and restaurants, market days in the local towns, best farm to go shopping for stocking up with good things. We have created this accommodation respecting what is important to us: tranquillity, space, organic farming and protection of the environment. The water is solar heated and we encourage people to sort their rubbish even when on holiday and introduce them to composting which is very useful for our garden! Our fields, campsite and garden are maintain in an organic way, and we sell local and organic produce on site. Plans for for the future include: Management of our 14ha forest with the aim of transforming it into an arboretum with many different varieties of trees and bamboos. Installing enough solar panels and wind generators to provide clean energy for us and hopefully our neighbours. |
