description
The Wallace Line separates two totally different ecological zones, one where endangered primate species live in threatened rainforests in the wet tropics and the other where the Komodo Giant Lizards (only around 2,000 live in a small group of islands) in the dry tropics.

These two areas have a distinct fauna and flora that is unique on the globe.

So come and enjoy a holiday where relaxation is complemented by tours for a range of exciting experiences!

Take a river boat to Camp Leakey (an Orangutan release centre) in Borneo, and enjoy birding walks in the forest, visits to communities and snorkelling/diving in one of the most bio diverse coral areas on the globe. You can view the unique Giant Lizards (Komodo Dragons), see traditional weaving villages and of course experience Bali with its Hindu culture, dances, panoramas and friendly people.

Our three eco lodges set in three different cultures (Hindu, Christian and Islamic) show the visitor how people can live together. The staff at each lodge are trained to respect the visitor with a friendly service. All lodges use Green Globe 21 benchmarking in their management; one lodge is now GG21 eco accredited (the only small hotel in Indonesia to be so).

This unique holiday gives the visitor a special insight into Indonesia, the largest archipelago on earth. Our management takes the safety of our guest as our prime concern.

travellers' tales
Relaxing place surrounded by flowering trees. We saw 15 of the 54 birds on their list. They are close to beaches, even though on a breezy hill next to the university's conservation area, with a view up to the great volcano.  (more)
how this holiday makes a difference
All our lodges are struggling despereatrely to protect the environment both in their immediate surrounds and in the areas they are located in The Tandjung Puting and Komodo National Parks.

We partner Green Globe 21 in our eco proceedures involving all aspects of management. Visitors can become involved in this process and will be exposed to issues and projects in which they can play a future part if they wish.

By merely supporting this tour, visitors will assist on environmental protection. If they wish they can become more deeply involved in specific community projects at each lodge including a sports program in local schools (especially in Bali and Labuan Bajo).

Tourism can be good and bad for destinations & local people.

We carefully screen every holiday against our criteria for responsible travel.

'Look behind the brochure' to find how each holiday makes a difference (see left).

We don't claim to be perfect - there is no global accreditation - but we've led the way since 2001 and screened 1000's of holidays.

We invite every traveller to write a review about their experiences and responsible tourism.

This valuable feedback is sent to the people who run the holidays. We keep a very close eye on it and take off holidays that don't live up to our standards.
