how this holiday makes a difference
View from apartmentChulilla is a small village and depopulated village. Tourism in Valencia is relied upon as the economic activity that is generating more employment in the area, especially for women. Indirectly, other business activities make profit from tourism; it has become the most dynamic sector.

We try to contribute to the development of our village by encouraging the sector to work in cooperation by setting agreements with local businesses, employing women to run our accommodations and actively promoting local Valencia products.

Farming is our other activity; we produce organic dry fruits such as olives, almonds and carobs. At the moment, we are offering to our customers products that are produced in our farm such as olive oil as well as other local farmers’ products such as honey and wine.

We have promoted and participated in campaigns promoting sustainable tourism in the area. We also are member of the local tourist association that aims to encourage local authorities and other businesses to develop sustainable tourism for Valencia holiday accommodation & tours alike.

We provide information to our customers about a rational use of electricity and water. We belong as individuals to the local ecologist association, which takes part in preservation activities. Our light bulbs are energy saving. We use environmentally cleaning products. Our aim is to make our Valencia holiday accommodation as low impact as possible. We try to explain our customers the evolution of the landscape in our territory and provide information about the ecologic diversity.

Tourism can be good and bad for destinations & local people.

We carefully screen every holiday against our criteria for responsible travel.

'Look behind the brochure' to find how each holiday makes a difference (see left).

We don't claim to be perfect - there is no global accreditation - but we've led the way since 2001 and screened 1000's of holidays.

We invite every traveller to write a review about their experiences and responsible tourism.

This valuable feedback is sent to the people who run the holidays. We keep a very close eye on it and take off holidays that don't live up to our standards.
