special things to do and see here
Spa and wellbeing facilities at Slovakia luxury hotelSpa and wellbeing: Ever since the Romans made bathing in heated pools popular, everyone has recognised the benefits of luxuriating in warm, mineral rich waters. We have been blessed by nature with access to a totally natural subterranean aquifer where water has been gradually absorbing soothing, curative, natural minerals over the last five hundred thousand years. We offer a range of indoor and outdoor pools; a Roman Bath experience for the 21st century.

After a hard day on the ski slopes what better way to prepare for tomorrow than soothing those tired muscles in a heated, mineral rich bath? We have a traditional Finnish Sauna, ice cave, whirlpool Jacuzzi and tanning room with UV lighting system.

We are proud to announce that our Slovakia holiday resort is now home to the very latest and most luxurious whole body CryoTherapy chamber centre anywhere in the world. First developed in Eastern Europe as a treatment for high performance athletes, the WBCC treatment has rapidly progressed to being used in main stream medicine as an effective and recognised treatment for a range of syndromes including arthritis, cellulite and depression. The Whole Body CryoTherapy Chamber consists of two specially constructed “cold rooms” around the size of a small sauna. CryoTherapy treatments are all taken under strict medical supervision by a fully qualified physician.

how this holiday makes a difference
Breathtaking views from luxury spa hotel in Slovakia We play a vital role in the local economy by providing employment both directly and indirectly to many local people. By encouraging visitors to come to the area, the resort plays a very important part in the development of the local tourist industry and the associated improvements in local infrastructure which result.

The ethos behind our resort is about the prevention of environmental pollution and minimising the production of 'greenhouse gasses' and global warming. We also positively contribute to the sustainability of the local economy and the environment, working to preserve the future by investing in sustainability.

By using the geothermal energy efficiently we save approximately €2.5million every year on our energy costs. Our use of the geothermal energy means that it is Europe’s first virtually carbon neutral hotel and resort complex. We continue to invest in environmental and energy efficient technologies, with an aim of being totally energy self sufficient by the end of 2007. We have invested in a state of the art UV filtration system, which means that we only use about 10% of the chlorine as compared with other public swimming baths, further reducing the impact of the resort on the local environment.

Slovakia holiday resortFor every guest who flies with us from the UK to our Slovakia holiday resort, we work with the organisation Climate Care in order to offset the carbon dioxide emissions associated with the return flight, thereby ensuring that as many parts of the holiday as possible are carbon neutral.

We endeavour to use local suppliers and to employ people from the local community as much as possible. The resort is partly owned by the town of Poprad and the resort also plays a vital role by investing a part of its profits into the local community.

Tourism can be good and bad for destinations & local people.

We carefully screen every holiday against our criteria for responsible travel.

'Look behind the brochure' to find how each holiday makes a difference (see left).

We don't claim to be perfect - there is no global accreditation - but we've led the way since 2001 and screened 1000's of holidays.

We invite every traveller to write a review about their experiences and responsible tourism.

This valuable feedback is sent to the people who run the holidays. We keep a very close eye on it and take off holidays that don't live up to our standards.
