These 2 self catering holiday cottages are situated in the beautiful Old Village of Shanklin on the Isle of Wight.

Our 3 bedroom cottages offer a very high standard of spacious, fully equipped accommodation. We are tucked away from the main road and nestled within a delightful sylvan setting with half an acre of sheltered, secluded gardens that offer a peaceful and relaxing base with which to explore the alluring Isle of Wight.

While you are here, why not give the car a rest! The cottages are ideally situated for exploring stunning coastal and country walks, some of which begin at the end of our driveway. The cliff path and steps leading to the lovely sandy Appley Beach is approximately 10 minutes walk through Rhylstone Gardens with its crazy golf, café and band stand. A short stroll will bring you to the heart of the famous Old Village with its picturesque thatched cottage tea rooms, gift shops, pubs and restaurants.

The many amenities of the busy seaside town of Shanklin are within easy wallking distance, as is the bus route and the seasonal road train (which goes from the Old Village to the Esplanade). Each cottage offers spacious accomodation, fully equipped to a very high standard.

how this holiday makes a difference
We were very pleased to be awarded "Gold" Status in the 2007 Green Island Tourism award scheme. This is the top level sustainable tourism certificate and indicates excellent environmental, economic & social performance across all ten awards criteria; energy, water, waste, purchasing, customer experience, wildlife & landscape, innovation, marketing & management and transport.

Visitors are actively encouraged to help with our recycling policy, which includes paper, magazines, card, glass and plastic. Ideally situated for all the many amenities of Shanklin and stunning coastal and country walks we suggest visitors leave their cars and explore our stunning Island on foot or by bike. We provide secure dry storage for bikes. We include lots of info on local restaurants, farmers market etc and all the wonderful visitor attractions within the cottages and we provide a welcome basket of Isle of Wight produce.

We use energy efficient appliances and lighting, we have dual flush toilets and showers. Wherever possible we use biodegradable products. The gardens are managed in a way to attract wildlife; any new plants added are of a drought loving kind! We have a number of water butts to utilise the rain water. A regular visitor to the garden is the lovely red squirrel to our feeding station, we have bird tables, nests and we attract a wonderful variety of birds. We only use local stockists, contractors and employ local casual labour. We support local environmental initiatives such as Gift To Nature, an Isle of Wight project to improve the natural environment and restore natural habitats on the Island.

Tourism can be good and bad for destinations & local people.

We carefully screen every holiday against our criteria for responsible travel.

'Look behind the brochure' to find how each holiday makes a difference (see left).

We don't claim to be perfect - there is no global accreditation - but we've led the way since 2001 and screened 1000's of holidays.

We invite every traveller to write a review about their experiences and responsible tourism.

This valuable feedback is sent to the people who run the holidays. We keep a very close eye on it and take off holidays that don't live up to our standards.
