Each apartment has its own kitchen and bathroom facilities, satellite tv and is fully equipped and serviced. All of the apartments have gas central heating, which is included in the price.
Our Poiana-Brasov accommodation is just 10 minutes from the villa to the ski lifts. Poiana Brasov has excellent skiing facilities with cable cars and numerous lifts. Poiana Brasov has good apres-ski facilities including some excellent traditional restaurants, including the famous Coliba Haiducilor (Outlaw's Cabin) and night clubs.
There is a supermarket within walking distance of the villa and a range of sports facilities including tennis, mini-golf, football, basketball, fitness centres and saunas etc.
The Carpathian region of Transylvania is one of the last natural wildernesses in Europe. In Spring and Summer the area has many hiking and horse riding trails amidst spectacular scenery. The Villa is only a 20 minute bus ride from the medieval city of Brasov and a 30 minute car drive from Dracula’s Castle at Bran.
All income from the villa is given directly to support Romania's first hospice, Casa Sperantei, in the city of Brasov. For anyone who is interested, we would be happy to arrange a visit to the hospice in Brasov.

|
All proceeds from the letting of our Poiana-Brasov accommodation are passed on to Hospice Casa Sperantei in nearby Brasov. Founded in 1992 this was the first provider of hospice care in Romania and the surrounding countries. Now its visiting hospice teams and in-patient centre treat, on average, 500 adults and children suffering from terminal illnesses.
The hospice also runs a school for children who are too sick or disabled to be admitted to mainstream schools. The management, cleaning, maintenance and driving staff are all recruited locally, making increased employment opportunities available in the area. The apartments support Casa Sperantei, our partner hospice in Brasov, which employs over 100 people from the area. We encourage guests to buy local produce from the shop in Poiana Brasov and give information on other local fresh produce suppliers. Every effort has been made to reduce energy consumption in the apartments. Extensive insulation reduces the heat loss and usage of heating fuel. Communal areas and passages inside the apartments are fitted with timed lighting switches. Unless guests request otherwise, we only change sheets/towels once after 7 days. In order to save water, all apartments at our Poiana-Brasov accommodation have showers and half-flush toilets. |
Tourism can be good and bad for destinations & local people. We carefully screen every holiday against our criteria for responsible travel. 'Look behind the brochure' to find how each holiday makes a difference (see left). We don't claim to be perfect - there is no global accreditation - but we've lead the way since 2001 and screened 1000's of holidays. We invite every traveller to write a review about their experiences and responsible tourism. This valuable feedback is sent to the people who run the holidays. We keep a very close eye on it and take off holidays that don't live up to our standards. |
