Our ocean spa provides an island of calm in a hectic world.
We realise time is precious and life stressful; our aim is to ensure that you make the most of your time and reap the rewards of relaxation and restoration. Our collection of therapies has been inspired by nature and incorporates a variety of cultural touches from around the world.
Our unique signature Maharlika massage therapy uses a fusion of healing touch and ancient massage traditions to ensure physiological and mental wellbeing. Every therapist has been trained by our in-house holistic spa 'guru' Victor Quemuel who has developed the wonderful art of Maharlika massage therapy.
We are delighted to announce that we are the first hotel in Cornwall to offer the extremely successful Mama Mio maternity and post pregnancy treatments and products. The unique blend of essential oils are completely safe for pregnant and non-pregnant women!

Our newly designed spa includes a luxurious combination of relaxing treatments, a steam room, hydro spa, sauna and hammam room.
Facial therapy:
Ocean Spa Maharlika Facial - 1 hr 10 mins £59
This facial uses a combination of gentle massage and exfoliation to stimulate the skin’s natural cleansing process. The facial includes a unique ‘Thread Technique’ using fine cotton to remove dead skin cells and plump out lines resulting in a skin lifting effect. Warmed fragrant oils are then luxuriantly massaged into the face, neck and décolleté.
Head therapy:
Indian Head Massage - 30 mins £29
This traditional treatment is carried out in a seated position and uses acupressure techniques to gently release tensions held within the scalp, neck, shoulder and scapula areas. Stimulating blood flow and reducing muscle spasm helps with headaches, tiredness and stress - resulting in boosted energy levels.
Massage therapy:
Ocean Spa Maharlika Massage - 1 hr 10 mins £59
A nurturing and therapeutic massage using ancient healing traditions from around the Orient. A blend of oils is selected for you according to your therapeutic requirements. Elements of Shiatsu and Thai massage are used to gently stretch and realign muscles and connective tissue, relieving deep seated aches and tensions. Acupressure points are used to stimulate the blood circulation and the flow of energy through the body.
Foot therapy:
Reflexology - 40 mins £39
Reflexology is a specialist therapy that uses a detailed combination of pressure points across your foot and ankle area; this rebalances the energy and function within the organs and pathways across your body. Practiced for hundreds of years this treatment can help to release blockages, improve energy levels and stimulate your natural metabolism.
Deluxe pampering for the 9 month stretch and beyond:
Mellow Mama - 1 hour £54
A complete body massage using specific prenatal techniques which allow you to relax, take the weight off your feet and indulge in a well deserved moment of peace and pampering. Lighten Up - 30 mins £29
Created to help when your legs feel tired and swollen, this lower leg treatment is all about reducing water retention and increasing circulation, whilst giving you a fantastic leg and foot massage at the same time.
Body conditioning:
Ocean Spa Body Boost Express - 30 mins £29
The perfect express skin boost. A scrub rich in mineral and antioxidants exfoliates the skin, sloughing off dead skin cells in preparation for a reviving shower and application of a rich hydrating body lotion.
Spa rituals:
Looking Gorgeous - 1 ½ hours £73
Let us make you feel like you are ready to walk down a red carpet. A delicious combination of mini facial, manicure and make up – leaving you ready to party or to have a romantic evening à deux.

how this holiday makes a difference
|
We offer a carbon offsetting scheme for guest's journeys to Cornwall, donating £10 towards planting new trees at the local wood. We try to reduce the amount of packaging we get by purchasing in bulk. Low energy lighting is in place wherever possible in the hotel. We recycle all materials and use recycled stationary.
All staff members receive environmental training on arrival and we have a Green Team who actively encourage other members of staff to do their bit. Eco-friendly cleaning products are used in the rooms, kitchens and public areas. The outdoor pool is heated by solar panels. Public bathrooms have movement activated light sensors and dual flushes. Guest linen and towels are only washed once requested. We have joined the Adopt a Beach scheme with the Marine Conservation Society, promising to clean Mawgan Porth beach 4 times a year and survey what is collected. Guests are informed about our sustainable ethos and practices via marketing media and information area in the hotel. We have a ‘buy local policy’ throughout wherever possible across all departments. The local Parish News letter and local newspapers are supported through advertising and editorial news each month. Local Bridge club and similar groups are offered discounted events at the hotel. We offer employment opportunities to people from the local community and from international countries. Fair Trade tea and coffee is served in restaurants and in bedrooms. Guests can receive information about local attractions, shops, local services etc. at our front desk or in their room folders. Locally sourced hand made soap is offered in the bedrooms instead of small bottles of products. Local charities are supported each year. This year it is Surfers Against Sewage (SAS) and the Cornwall Bird Watching and Preservation Society. Local events are sponsored and donated to where possible for example the local amateur dramatics productions, Surf Relief Day, a local fire station's and school's fundraising dinners, a young disabled boy and SAS campaigns. Staff are encouraged to get involved in local events and volunteering e.g. for the regular beach cleans. Our initiatives are communicated to local students, businesses and other hotels at conferences and seminars to inform them of the benefits of being sustainable. |
Tourism can be good and bad for destinations & local people. We carefully screen every holiday against our criteria for responsible travel. 'Look behind the brochure' to find how each holiday makes a difference (see left). We don't claim to be perfect - there is no global accreditation - but we've led the way since 2001 and screened 1000's of holidays. We invite every traveller to write a review about their experiences and responsible tourism. This valuable feedback is sent to the people who run the holidays. We keep a very close eye on it and take off holidays that don't live up to our standards. |
