  • how this holiday makes a difference
We use alternative energy sources like solar energy for hot water for shower in our hotel. We use CFL bulbs in our hotel to minimize electricity use and also we post messages on our hotel notice board to tell our guest to turn off lights.

We have under ground water storage tanks in which we collect rain water. There is a waste recycling compost in the area where all biodegradable waste is put in to be converted into manure, which we use for our farm. The vegetables which we use in our hotel are bought from organic farms and some of them are grown in our own backyard, thereby guarantying our food to be fresh. Latest low flush toilets are bought for minimum water consumption.

Elephants, hotel in Jaipur, IndiaThe owner is a retired air force doctor and gives lectures and provides medical assistance, education, training to the ‘save the tigers’ project in Ranthambore.

All employees are local people. All the products which we use like bed cover in the rooms are made by the local weavers, the furniture in the hotel is made by the local carpenters etc. We only use local services for contraction, repair and restoring of our heritage building and also the painting which is done on our ceilings of the rooms and walls are done by the local artist.

Tourism can be good and bad for destinations & local people.

We carefully screen every holiday against our criteria for responsible travel.

'Look behind the brochure' to find how each holiday makes a difference (see left).

We don't claim to be perfect - there is no global accreditation - but we've lead the way since 2001 and screened 1000's of holidays.

We invite every traveller to write a review about their experiences and responsible tourism.

This valuable feedback is sent to the people who run the holidays. We keep a very close eye on it and take off holidays that don't live up to our standards.
