Luxury Loch Ness self catering cottages
Our three, new detached cottages, with garden & adjacent parking, have been graded 5 Star by the Scottish Tourist Board. Set in the majestic scenery of the Highlands, near Loch Ness, the landscape is perfect for fishing, golfing, walking, cycling, pony trekking or simply exploring one of the worlds few remaining unspoilt landscapes.
The cottages are luxurious & comfortable, yet still retain that home from home feel. Everything is high quality; spa baths, wood burning stoves, solid oak floors, Wi-Fi, satellite TV, DVD, video & CD player, books, games, in-house chef's service, complimentary toiletries, basic essentials & welcome packages. They offer extremely well equipped kitchens with dishwashers, washing machines & microwaves, and private decking or patio areas with outdoor furniture & barbecues.
The luxury Loch Ness self catering cottages are set in a 120 acre croft with animals; both farm & wild, with waterfalls & lochan, at the top of beautiful, peaceful Glen Urquhart, on the very doorstep of glen's Affric, Cannich, Strathfarrar & the Great Glen. It is centrally located to the whole of the Highlands; and ideal place from which to explore both East, West & North coasts.
Park your car up for the week, relax & enjoy peace & tranquillity; you will want for nothing!

how this holiday makes a difference
|
The cottages were built using a sustainable source of wood for the kits, and huge amounts of insulation in the loft and cavity spaces. Excellent doors and windows were fitted to prevent energy loss. We have our own private water source with multi-filtration system, without additional chemicals. Wood burning stoves are in each cottage where we encourage the use of them as opposed to any other form of heating by issuing a basket full of appropriately harvested logs, (there is a log store on hand for our guests to help themselves to more at no extra cost, where required. They can even chop logs themselves to further experience the outdoors life here!)
We re-cycle all glass and paper; glass is taken by us to the local bottle bank, and the paper we reuse on the fires. We recycle tins and plastic too. We reuse all bin liners and plastic bags time and again, and then recycle them. All foodstuffs that are left are used in some way, usually we compost them. We have built bird tables and bird and owl nest boxes, that are situated all over the place. We aim to begin producing our own organic salad and vegetables for the use of us and our clients. We cultivate our extensive gardens without the use of any pesticides and fertilisers. We take our crystal clear, soft water direct from the water table, filter it and serve it up; as pure as possible! Rain water is recycled for the garden and waste biologically degrades and soaks away. We use energy efficient boilers; voted most efficient boiler of the year at time of installation. All appliances purchased were A, A+ or A++ rated for energy efficiency. We use energy saving light bulbs, where possible, dolly washer balls, dryer balls, environmentally friendly cleaning products, (Ecover), and none at all where possible. We have our own in-house chef’s service cooking the finest quality meals to order, delivered to your cottage door; using only local produce, (inc. our own free range eggs, lamb and venison), and we are as organic as possible. Fair Trade items are included in our welcome package, i.e. coffee, tea, sugar and we encourage the use of local, and Scottish suppliers, organic ones where possible for foodstuffs. We strongly believe in only employing local staff and trades, as we open all year round they too are employed all year. We try desperately hard to buy all our produce from local farmers and/or shops. |
Tourism can be good and bad for destinations & local people. We carefully screen every holiday against our criteria for responsible travel. 'Look behind the brochure' to find how each holiday makes a difference (see left). We don't claim to be perfect - there is no global accreditation - but we've led the way since 2001 and screened 1000's of holidays. We invite every traveller to write a review about their experiences and responsible tourism. This valuable feedback is sent to the people who run the holidays. We keep a very close eye on it and take off holidays that don't live up to our standards. |
