The beach is directly overlooked by the imposing Caerhays Castle, (gardens occasionally open to the public). • how this holiday makes a difference
We have been farming organically since 1995 and are now with the soil association. By not using any chemicals or fertilizers on the farm we have noticed a large rise in the different species of wildlife especially the coulds of butterflies feeding on the fallen plums.

We recycle all our own waste rubbish at the local centre and encourage our guests to let us recycle any plastic glass bottles papers etc, for them. We launder guests towels as requested instead of everyday to reduce electricity/water uses, we use hippos in our toilet cisterns and are presently examining the possibility of using our own water supply for laundry and toilets, and solar panels for lights.

Coastline, organic B&B near St AustellWe run the B&B by using as much of our own produce as possible and where necessary using our local farm shop at Heligan gardens, during the summer months we serve cream teas on the lawn to guests and visitors and encourage small donations to local charities being the RNLI and the blind.

We always encourage people to shop locally in the village and to use locally sourced food with fish being a particular delight. Our tea coffee facilities contain organic/fairtrade produce.

Tourism can be good and bad for destinations & local people.

We carefully screen every holiday against our criteria for responsible travel.

'Look behind the brochure' to find how each holiday makes a difference (see left).

We don't claim to be perfect - there is no global accreditation - but we've lead the way since 2001 and screened 1000's of holidays.

We invite every traveller to write a review about their experiences and responsible tourism.

This valuable feedback is sent to the people who run the holidays. We keep a very close eye on it and take off holidays that don't live up to our standards.
