description
A typical Andalusian Hacienda in Natural Park Sierra de las Nieves.
The area has been declared a Biosfera Reserve by UNESCO and our Andalucia hotel has been awarded the Marca Parque Natural by the Andalusian government for its ecofriendly management and quality processes.
The hotel sits on an astonishing 650m high cliff, with the village of Tolox at its feet. The village is so white it looks like a film set and on a clear day you can see the snowy summits of Sierra Nevada in the distance, and around it mountains, rivers and Spanish firs; a feast for each of your five senses.
Surrounded by silence and fresh air, looking over the Guadalorce Valley, our Andalucia hotel is an ideal place to practise a sport that captures more and more followers every day: escaping.

how this holiday makes a difference
|
Our Andalucia hotel has acquired the brand “Marca Parque Natural de Andalucia” which is in recognition of the ecofriendly management of the hotel. As part of these measures the hotel has just installed solar panels for hot water and implemented other ecofriendly policies such as a timer controlled watering system for the plants, recycling the water for watering, the use of energy saving lights (also timer controlled), recycling waste such as glass, paper, used oil, etc and other smaller measures, such as use of recycled paper and the maintenance of wood with used oil from the kitchen.
The local community benefits from our Andalucia hotel as it creates jobs and brings guests to stay in the area and spend money in restaurants and other services such as outdoor activities. The hotel employs 4 people from the nearest town, Tolox, and 1 more from a nearby town. The rest of the employees are not from the area but are currently living here and therefore contribute to the town’s economy. The fact that they live here suggests a change from the normal situation where young people from this area leave for bigger cities to work. The restaurant at our Andalucia hotel also uses a lot of local products of the area, especially vegetables, and has suppliers from the area for many other items. The hotel is also being used as a telecommunications tower by a local wireless internet company, helping to provide this digital signal to many users which would otherwise not have this opportunity. |
Tourism can be good and bad for destinations & local people. We carefully screen every holiday against our criteria for responsible travel. 'Look behind the brochure' to find how each holiday makes a difference (see left). We don't claim to be perfect - there is no global accreditation - but we've lead the way since 2001 and screened 1000's of holidays. We invite every traveller to write a review about their experiences and responsible tourism. This valuable feedback is sent to the people who run the holidays. We keep a very close eye on it and take off holidays that don't live up to our standards. |
