We have employed and educated guides / facilitators to assist tourists when visiting or getting involved with projects. By visiting our projects and possibly making pledges to support development projects which are environmentally sustainable tourists are supporting conservation and community initiatives. The lodge is currently working in a partnership with some of the members of surrounding villages some of the enterprise schemes that we are involved in include activities such as soap production using Aloe Vera, which is produced and grown locally, as well as peanut butter, bird baths, flower pots to name but a few. We all help to provide and sustain for a better economic future for all. All income generated from the community tourism project stays within the village. If you wish to help local communities why not buy some peanut butter, made by a craft co-operative, purchase some locally made pots or donate money to the trust. Our trust aims to assist local communities adjacent to the South Viphya and Perekezi Forest Reserve in collaborative management and benefit sharing from this protected area. ![]() This holiday is part of the responsibletravel.com and Conservation International Community Based Tourism Programme to support and promote community based tourism ventures that offer significant conservation and development benefits to local communities. Tourism can be good and bad for destinations & local people. We carefully screen every holiday against our criteria for responsible travel. 'Look behind the brochure' to find how each holiday makes a difference (see left). We don't claim to be perfect - there is no global accreditation - but we've led the way since 2001 and screened 1000's of holidays. We invite every traveller to write a review about their experiences and responsible tourism. This valuable feedback is sent to the people who run the holidays. We keep a very close eye on it and take off holidays that don't live up to our standards. |
