description
This is a tranquil, small, designer resort on Apulia's Adriatic coast. In its previous life, around the 17th century, the house had even been a small hermitage. With only 10 apartments, the setting is extremely intimate, there's no town or other hotel within sight. Surrounded by natural landscape of old olive trees, this is an oasis of peace, an extremely pleasant and regenerating environment.
It was our intent to rethink, convert and reinvent a wonderful place, to recover an old building, in order to create unrivalled combination of history, experience, artisanship and innovation. The atmosphere of the house and the surrounding amazing nature meet with a blend of design classics and furniture.
Our style is a blend of the most famous contemporary designers, a conversation between old and new, between Puglia and the European modern way-of-living. Eco friendly, we employ solar energy, control water consumption and provide recycling facilities, offering a valid option for 'eco-conscious' travelers.

how this holiday makes a difference
We get most of our warm water supply from solar power panels. We minimise energy use by using energy efficient light bulbs and turning off lights when not in use. We collect rain water for use in the garden. We have a laundry scheme where we only change towels and sheets after 3 days or when guests request them. We use eco cleaning products in the property. We offer a note bloc produced with recycled paper; we only use toilet paper made from recycled paper. We recycle glass, plastic and paper and have facilities for our guests to recycle their waste. We employ all local staff. We buy local produce from the nearby farm shop for the guests and our meals, like e.g. fresh cheese, eggs, milk, fruit and vegetables. We use local services such as builders, electricians and gardeners for the maintenance of the property. We buy all bakery products from a nearby baker shop in Fasano, like taralli, bread, biscuits, etc. We offer the opportunity to local artists to exhibit their works, like photography, paintings, sculpture, etc in the residence, in order to give them an unconventional space to show their works. We encourage our guests to visit local attractions. For example, we inform them about the Natural Reserve Area WWF “Torre Guaceto”, a beautiful and unspoiled place where to go to swim or to make a trip with the bicycle. We encourage to eat in local restaurants and by local produce, like handmade ceramics, wine and olive oil. We offer locally produced olive oil shampoo to our guests, and encourage to purchase natural cosmetic products by a producer nearby. We inform our guest about traditional religious events, music events, concerts, opera festival, etc. |
Tourism can be good and bad for destinations & local people. We carefully screen every holiday against our criteria for responsible travel. 'Look behind the brochure' to find how each holiday makes a difference (see left). We don't claim to be perfect - there is no global accreditation - but we've lead the way since 2001 and screened 1000's of holidays. We invite every traveller to write a review about their experiences and responsible tourism. This valuable feedback is sent to the people who run the holidays. We keep a very close eye on it and take off holidays that don't live up to our standards. |
