description
Set in an amazing tropical garden with freeform jungle swimming pool we have four sumptuous villas. Each villa accommodates up to four guests or for larger groups and parties all four villas can be made available to accommodate up to sixteen.
Our villas celebrate the romance of living in the tropics. We wanted to follow the long tradition of open pavilions which are the essence of building in this part of the world revealing a deep sensitivity to the climate and landscape. Our dynamic young architect used his own interpretations of this traditional design and worked closely with local trades people to allow his penchant for hedonistic spaces through luxurious open-air rooms to flourish.
No where demonstrates this better than the stunning first floor open plan living spaces which take advantage of the cool sea breeze to provide cross ventilation. These shady, breezy spaces in the treetops capture the magic of staying in the tropics.
The most seductive rooms have no doors or windows, they’re sumptuously furnished indoor-outdoor spaces which allow you to interface with the heady tropical environment, a place to relax and escape with your subconscious thoughts.
Simply enjoy the captivating and unashamedly romantic location and unwind in your private jet pool or use the complimentary car and driver to discover the beautiful scenery, rich heritage and wonderfully genuine people of Goa. If this sounds like too much hard work, simply relax with a good book in the stunning jungle style gardens surrounding the natural pool.
Spa & Ayurveda: For that added touch of indulgence why not spoil yourself each day with an Ayervedic treatment massage. In a quiet corner deep in the lush exotic garden is secreted a private therapy area where by appointment a therapist from Shatayu Ayurvedic Health Clinic can provide full ayurvedic treatments and massage on site.

how this holiday makes a difference

We believe in sustainable low impact tourism through design. We want to enrich the local community and not impact on their environment, but without compromising the comfort required by the sophisticated international traveller.
The coolest place in the evenings are nearest to the ground, so our architect put the bedrooms on the ground floor and used thick local laterite stone for insulating the cool air. We put most of the living space on the first floor and built it with the most minimal use of walls. These open sided living verandas harness the cool sea breeze to deliver cross ventilation. These building techniques minimise the need to use electricity to cool down and the unique living space created enhances the experience of staying in the tropics. Even the interior designer joined in by sourcing colonial and Indian antique furniture and using only fittings of Indian origin with local trade’s people modifying them to meet our high standards where appropriate. Goa needs tourists, with much of the population relying on the income they generate. To that end we do not provide any on site food or additional revenue raising services. We actively encourage you to go out and explore and spend your money in the real Goa. With its rich heritage, stunning scenery owing to its rich bio diversity, friendly smiles and wonderful food you’ll find making the effort vastly rewarding. Even the ayurvedic services available in the privacy of your own villa, are outsourced to Shatayu Ayurvedic Health Clinic. Guests pay locally and we do not benefit in any way. All employees are from the village of Nerul bringing much needed employment. Unfortunately tourism brings its own problems. The two biggest facing Goa’s coastal tourist belt are garbage, waste management and the extra burden tourists place on the water table at the end of the dry season. We employ a three bin re-cycling system in each villa. It allows us to provide our own waste collection service. We distribute the divided waste and pay for its recycling. To minimise our impact on the water table we have built in an area where the water table is high. We have filled the swimming pool during the monsoon and top this water up in the dry season by purchasing water from inland water sources where the table is very high. The private jet pools are on the swimming pool filtration system so they do not need emptying and re-filling between guests. In addition we use grey water from the pool back wash and soak pits to help water the gardens. We only have showers in the rooms instead of baths. We contribute towards the local community by donating money or resource to local needs for example this year we built a new well for the village and contributed toward the cost of building a new Hindu temple. India has given us and will give you so much emotional and spiritual joy it is only correct we should all give something back when it has so many social causes still in need of help. At the end of every season we donate a percentage of our income to charities doing vital work to help India’s needy keep up with the economic boom. |
Tourism can be good and bad for destinations & local people. We carefully screen every holiday against our criteria for responsible travel. 'Look behind the brochure' to find how each holiday makes a difference (see left). We don't claim to be perfect - there is no global accreditation - but we've led the way since 2001 and screened 1000's of holidays. We invite every traveller to write a review about their experiences and responsible tourism. This valuable feedback is sent to the people who run the holidays. We keep a very close eye on it and take off holidays that don't live up to our standards. |
