At our Loch Lomond bed & breakfast accommodation we also offer a comprehensive guiding service for walkers/hillwalkers and anyone wishing a fuller understanding of the Scottish landscape, its history and its people.

We pride ourselves in making every guest feel very welcome and work hard to understand what they are hoping to see and do during their visit. Lots of advice is available if desired. Many guests remark on how rested they feel after a night, so some people come for one night and often stay longer.

how this holiday makes a difference
At our Loch Lomond bed & breakfast accommodation we use recycled stationary and buy goods from local Co-operative supermarket and smaller retailers in town. We use local services such as builders merchants and electricians for the maintenance of the property. Most work is done by ourselves. We are active in the Lomond and Clyde Tourist Association and also the Helensburgh and District Access Forum which works to improve countryside access. Presently we are involved in developing a medium distance recreational footpath which will bring substantial economic benefit to the area.

We have an energy efficient house with the Loch Lomond bed & breakfast accommodation designed to very high standard. We have solar heating panels installed which help reduce water heating costs. We recycle all glass, paper, metal, plastic, batteries, printer cartridges and encourage guests to recycle their waste too. We compost of all household and garden waste. We use low environmental impact cleaners.

Our garden planting scheme includes native species and management policies to improve wildlife habitat and food sources. We have new bird feeders installed and have introduced nesting boxes and second compost bin. We have showers and half flush toilets to reduce water use at our Loch Lomond bed & breakfast accommodation. We have a laundry scheme where we only change towels and sheets after 3 days or when guests request them.

We support the Helensburgh Tree Conservation Trust by donating money every year and by telling our guests about them. We also help with tree maintenance and plantings in the town. We encourage our guests to visit local attractions and eat in local restaurants. We also encourage our guests to use public transport to/from our Loch Lomond bed & breakfast accommodation and local walking routes. We are the main instigators and organisers of Lomond and Clyde Springfest - held for the first time in 2005 and set to become an annual event. The Festival is Loch Lomond's premier Spring walking, arts, music and environmental Festival - celebrating the best of Scotland with a wee taste of Japanese culture!

Tourism can be good and bad for destinations & local people.

We carefully screen every holiday against our criteria for responsible travel.

'Look behind the brochure' to find how each holiday makes a difference (see left).

We don't claim to be perfect - there is no global accreditation - but we've led the way since 2001 and screened 1000's of holidays.

We invite every traveller to write a review about their experiences and responsible tourism.

This valuable feedback is sent to the people who run the holidays. We keep a very close eye on it and take off holidays that don't live up to our standards.
