description
Our centre for our Ireland horse riding holiday is located at Rusheen, an area of wild and unspoiled beauty between the villages of Borrisoleigh and Upperchurch. It is surrounded by the North Tipperary Devil’s Bit, Slieve Felim, and Silvermines Mountain Ranges.
Approved by the Association of Irish Riding Establishments and by Failte Ireland, our facilities include a large outdoor sand arena, show-jumps, and access to hundreds of acres of off-road riding as well as quiet rambling country boreens. We are holders of two 'Outstanding Horsemanship' awards from Irish Natural Horsemanship
Enjoy your days with equitation lessons in the mornings and leisurely treks or sightseeing tours in the afternoons.
You will spend your evenings either feasting on home-cooked meals containing locally produced ingredients, dining at one of the excellent local restaurants in the area, or visiting (and maybe even participating in) one of the many traditional Irish music sessions hosted by the local pubs.
Build up your confidence around horses using natural horsemanship techniques, and develop your skills as a rider, while being immersed in the traditional Irish lifestyle and landscapes far away from the tourist track. This holiday is suitable for novice and intermediate riders who want to experience the freedom of roaming across country on horseback combined with a structured programme of lessons to improve their riding skills. The price for our Ireland horse riding holiday includes all transport including airport transfers, accommodation and meals both on-site and at local restaurants, and visits to Roscrea Heritage Town and Ballaghmore Castle as well as a traditional Irish Music Session.

how this holiday makes a difference
|
There is minimal tourism within North Tipperary and few local jobs. By bringing people to the area we directly assist in job creation by the employment of full-time staff. We encourage our guests on our Ireland horse riding holiday to visit local attractions and restaurants, thus indirectly assisting in local job creation. We are conscious of food-miles issues and source local organic and free range produce. All repairs, maintenance, and farming assistance are provided by local people.
We reduce, re-use and recycle. We compost all vegetable waste, we avoid buying heavily packaged products where possible, and we re-cycle glass, plastics, paper, cardboard, tins, cans, batteries and electrical products. Because our water source is a private well, we are very conscious of the need to conserve water, especially in the summer. We conserve rain-water for our horses. We steam clean within the house. Please do not ask us to send you a brochure because, in accordance with our paper free policy, all information about our centre is available in electronic form! |
Tourism can be good and bad for destinations & local people. We carefully screen every holiday against our criteria for responsible travel. 'Look behind the brochure' to find how each holiday makes a difference (see left). We don't claim to be perfect - there is no global accreditation - but we've led the way since 2001 and screened 1000's of holidays. We invite every traveller to write a review about their experiences and responsible tourism. This valuable feedback is sent to the people who run the holidays. We keep a very close eye on it and take off holidays that don't live up to our standards. |
