description
Certified organic accredited property located on six rural acres specialising in the production of eggs and cultivation of vegetables, herbs, fruits and nuts which have been grown in chemical-free soils, without the use of artificial fertilisers or herbicides. We practise environmentally conscious farming methods, leaving pest control to Mother nature who does a wonderfully efficient job of it all on her own.
We hold educational and recreational farm tours and regular Dairy Workshops in cheese, butter, yoghurt and ice cream making and monthly workshops in Forgotten Household Crafts.
Forgotten Household Craft Workshops are held monthly focussing on a nostalgic, slower lifestyle and practises the techniques of a bygone era which were once an integral part of everyday life. e.g. paper making, bees wax candles, clove and citrus pomanders, spinning, patchwork and quilting, soap making, flower pressing, seed saving, pasta making and much, much more.
Guests are welcome to participate in all farm activities including meal preparation within the guidelines of the Slow Food Movement.

how this holiday makes a difference
Our farm is an eco-tourism destination which encourages bio-diversity and practises sustainable organic farming techniques. We are enthusiastic ambassadors for the organic industry and also the layed-back Australian way of life. We stress the environmental issues raised when living a high consumerist lifestyle which has become part of everyday day living and discourage the use of chemicals and artificial additives of any kind. Our kitchen follows the guidelines of the international Slow Food Movement and promotes home cooking and family meals as a preferred way of life. We are passionate about our beautiful, natural and historic region and thrive on its promotion. Upon booking, we supply guests with ample literature to acquaint them with our beautiful region and its natural and man-made attractions, subsequently benefitting our local tourism industry. We support the local community by donating accommodation and workshop gift certificates to local schools and community organisations such as the Wollondilly Cancer Support Group and the Mayor's Charity Ball for fundraisers. Upon booking, we supply guests with ample literature to acquaint them with our beautiful region and its natural and man-made attractions, subsequently benefitting our local tourism industry. We are also available at all times during their stay to answer any questions they may have on the region and offer sight-seeing recommendations. Furthermore, all hired staff and tradespeople are sourced from local residents and businesses. |
Tourism can be good and bad for destinations & local people. We carefully screen every holiday against our criteria for responsible travel. 'Look behind the brochure' to find how each holiday makes a difference (see left). We don't claim to be perfect - there is no global accreditation - but we've led the way since 2001 and screened 1000's of holidays. We invite every traveller to write a review about their experiences and responsible tourism. This valuable feedback is sent to the people who run the holidays. We keep a very close eye on it and take off holidays that don't live up to our standards. |
