Sardinia farmhouse accommodation
Our accommodation is a typical local farm located in the region of Gallura, 13 km from Tempio Pausania, the historical capital of Gallura, also called 'The City Stone'. It is walking distance from Monte Pulchiana.
At the farm, honey is produced and the cattle roams free in the open, close to cork trees and megalithic stones of granite. We also have an organic kitchen-garden where we grow many vegetables, and a beutiful farmyard with flowers and a number of animals.
Since 1981 the farm has been managed by the Pesenti family and in 2001, thanks to the European Community fund for the development of rural areas, we started a restaurant.
The restaurant serves traditional food from the Region of Gallura and it's aim is support local producers and promote local cuisine. The farmhouse is built in a traditional Stazzo Gallurese way, and is surrounded by numerous granite rocks formed by the wind, called “conchi”, where the ancient farmers used to rest and shelter their cattle, making the area ideal for hiking.
The farm is only 20 minutes from the best beaches of northern Sardinia, the nearest is Vignola beach where you can admire the Torre Saracena and the church of San Silvestro. Monte Russo, another enchanting beach, with white sand, and famous for the emerald color of the sea, is 25 minutes away.
Regional group tours (Minimum 6 people). Cycling & climbing. Archaeological visits. Shatzu courses & recreational workshops for children. Seminars about rural living & cork extraction from the oaks trees. Art courses & Bach flower therapy. Music and theater events. Beaches (20 mins)
Walking: The location is excellent for hiking enthusiasts and we organize guided group tours in the enchanting region of Gallura. The difficulty and the length of the hike can be different depending upon the itinerary.
We also organise tour packages which involve:
Arrival on Friday night and dinner Saturday morning breakfast Hike in the peaks; admire the enchanting panorama of northern Gallura Lunch outdoors Afternoon walk back to the farmhouse Typical 'Gallurese' dinner Sunday morning breakfast and guided visit to Tempio, 'the City of Stone'.

how this holiday makes a difference

In 1981 our family bought the farm. It was neglected, without electricity, water, phone and the garden was full of weeds. The house was without a roof and we had to work hard for a long time restoring the old house, building a cowshed, ploughing the fields, sowing good seeds and beginning the beekeeping. We have always used the organic method of cultivating. In the early years of the project, business was not so good but year after year it got better. The neighbours were lovely, they helped us and taught me how to look after our cows, sheep and goats.
In 2001, thanks to the European Community fund for rural development, we built a farmhouse with five rooms. It is built in a traditional way and we have used only local building materials: wood, cork, canes and stones. Now we have a project which will allow us to be self-sufficient thanks to a solar power system. We encourage our guests to visit local attractions, eat in local restaurants, buy local produce and use local services. All our current staff were employed locally, and we support the local businesses by buying local produce from the nearby farms for the guests and our meals. We also use local services such as builders / electricians / plumbers for the maintenance of the property. We minimise energy use by using energy efficient light bulbs and appliances and turning off lights and appliances when not in use. We also have showers and half flush toilets to reduce water use. We have a laundry scheme where we only change towels and sheets after 7 days or when guests request them to be changed. All our cleaning products are green/biodegradable/eco. Our garden is maintained without the use of pesticides and fertilisers and the permaculture method is used for irrigation to minimise the use of water. Wildlife is encouraged to thrive in our garden and we support local conservation projects. |
Tourism can be good and bad for destinations & local people. We carefully screen every holiday against our criteria for responsible travel. 'Look behind the brochure' to find how each holiday makes a difference (see left). We don't claim to be perfect - there is no global accreditation - but we've led the way since 2001 and screened 1000's of holidays. We invite every traveller to write a review about their experiences and responsible tourism. This valuable feedback is sent to the people who run the holidays. We keep a very close eye on it and take off holidays that don't live up to our standards. |

Excellent. We really enjoyed ourselves. We divided our time between the coast and chilling out at the agriturismo. We did some sightseeing but generally relaxed. There was lots of choice about what to do.
