how this holiday makes a difference
We strive to make the guests’ stay a memorable and enjoyable one whilst minimising the negative impacts to the environment through more efficient use of our resources. All items that are purchased are ozone friendly (no CFC), cooking oil is sent to generate bio diesel and the hotel uses energy saving lights to minimise the consumption of electricity. Our outside lighting system works on timers and our internal lighting system in staff corridors, staff landings and back of house works on a sensor system. There is regular monitoring by the hotel's maintenance team, e.g. boiler chimney discharge. Most of the rubbish in our Malta hotel is separated and disposed off accordingly to the recycling measures whenever possible. We separate and recycle (via an outside company) organic waste, oil and batteries. When purchasing new equipment the purchasing office looks for environmentally friendly products. We purchase white goods with clean technology.

The changing of towels in guest rooms happens only when the client requests this according to a notice in each room explaining the eco contribution. Stationary and printing materials are made of recycle paper. We reduce the use of harmful cleaning products and detergents, such as non biodegradable products. We use biodegradable products where possible and we monitor chlorine in the swimming pool daily.

Vew from Malta hotelWe regularly control the filling and leakage in the air-conditioned system and cold rooms. We use a preventative maintenance program for water installation. We use rain water collecting systems, discharge waste water without altering the environment, use water saving devices in showers, for taps in rooms and in room water cisterns. The economizers are fitted on both the shower head and the wash hand basin tap outlet so that a mixture of air and water will create the desired pressure with less water coming out of the shower or basin tap. We use an irrigating system which saves water in the external gardens. We inform and encouraging guests to participate in the hotel’s water-saving and energy-saving programs.

Through our Malta hotel we support the local community by sponsoring publications of Philanthropic societies and sponsoring various fundraising activities throughout the year by offering vouchers for weekend breaks and Sunday lunches for raffles. We organise heritage and country walks for guests.

Tourism can be good and bad for destinations & local people.

We carefully screen every holiday against our criteria for responsible travel.

'Look behind the brochure' to find how each holiday makes a difference (see left).

We don't claim to be perfect - there is no global accreditation - but we've lead the way since 2001 and screened 1000's of holidays.

We invite every traveller to write a review about their experiences and responsible tourism.

This valuable feedback is sent to the people who run the holidays. We keep a very close eye on it and take off holidays that don't live up to our standards.
