description
This accommodation is an idyllic small resort, set on a gentle hill slope of Mukteshwar, facing the Himalayas.

Located in the middle of a two and half acre orchard of over a hundred fruits trees and beds of over seventy varieties of flowers along the walkways, it is just the kind of place where nature lovers love to spend their holiday.

Mukteshwar is truly a round the year destination. In summer it has the ideal climate for a gateway, with pleasant days and cool nights. During monsoon months it is lush green, as far as the eyes can see. Autumn brings splashes of rust and vermilion hues to the trees while winter covers it in a blanket of snow.

Although our resort is the only ‘Classified Resort’ in Mukteshwar (by the Dept. of Tourism, Govt. of India), it does not boast luxury. It is however a charming place with all basic comforts & amenities, cleanliness, hygiene, delicious home-made simple food and courteous service.

how this holiday makes a difference
The resort is the first in Mukteshwar which brought the destination on the tourism map, thus uplifting the local community. It employs 100% local labour & services. Some of the current employees have worked as labourers with the project & are with us for the last 18 Years. Employees are given annual paid leaves. Local guides are used to enhance the experience & provide an income to the hosts. Seasonal vegetable is procured from local sources only. Furniture is all made within the district only.

Housekeeping is instructed strictly to switch the ‘room mains’ off as soon as guests leaves/departs. To save energy 90% of the bulbs used are CFL that too mostly of 8-11 watts range. Water is from a Natural spring source & collected by harvesting rain water. Water usage guidelines are displayed in each room. Towels / Linen suggested not to wash everyday. Cisterns are set at water saving levels.

The architecture is absolutely vernacular & blends with the village surroundings. These are ground level cottages only & has minimal impact on the natural surroundings. Mostly Traditional building methods and local craftsman builders are used.

Waste is segregated as Wet & Dry; Wet is used for manure in our orchard & Dry is transported to municipal dumps for recycling. No chemicals or inorganic fertilizers are used only natural manure. Eco Soap/shampoo is purely herbal to avoid chemical discharge. Dos/Don’ts to protect environment are displayed on two ‘Information Boards’ at the reception itself. This makes guests aware of Hotel environmental programmes & learn to respect local people culture & traditions. Only paper bags are used in our gift shop. There are no TVs in the rooms. Old sheets & towels are cut to create cleaning rags. 75% of our promotion is done through websites / e-mails rather that leaflets to save paper.

The gray water from the bathroom is filtered through natural soil & then used to water our garden. An organic wild life garden has been created with a mix of fruit trees, wild flowers, shrubs, ornamental flowers, local plants, vines, grass etc. to attract all sorts of birds, butterflies, bees, caterpillars, snails, amphibians, reptiles, insects, small mammals, organisms in the soil etc. Bird houses and bird baths have been placed all over the resort to attract various species of birds.

All house keeping cleansing products are environment friendly. Fire wood used is only procured from reafforestation projects/ dead trees allotted & then transported to our site.  Compared to when we took over the 2-1/2 acres land to build a resort the greenery is now atleast 3 folds with almost over 100 fruit trees.

Tourism can be good and bad for destinations & local people.

We carefully screen every holiday against our criteria for responsible travel.

'Look behind the brochure' to find how each holiday makes a difference (see left).

We don't claim to be perfect - there is no global accreditation - but we've led the way since 2001 and screened 1000's of holidays.

We invite every traveller to write a review about their experiences and responsible tourism.

This valuable feedback is sent to the people who run the holidays. We keep a very close eye on it and take off holidays that don't live up to our standards.
