description
The accommodation is a scattered group of six well-established cottages of varying size. Attractively painted in Mediterranean pastel colours they are tucked in behind the small church, directly above Nissaki. Until the owner, Marilla Dantos, built these traditionally styled cottages, the land was a place of great natural beauty, with terraces of old olive trees and great rocky boulders. Marilla was determined that her cottages should be integrated with the dramatic landscape and with this in mind, she retained the maximum possible number of the original trees and rocks.

Each cottage is individually designed to take maximum advantage of its location and all have spacious, airy accommodation with fabulous sea views.

Each is set in their own garden or courtyard, with mature Mediterranean trees, flowering plants: plumbago, bougainvillea and jasmine, and fragrant herbs. In the evening the scent of the gardens is one of the pleasures of staying here and their position and design affords each property a high degree of privacy. The elevated position gives these exceptional cottages the ideal combination of perfect views and easy access to beach, tavernas and shops.

On the edge of the property in a stunning position overlooking the small bay of Nissaki, is a shared swimming pool with panoramic views across the bay to Corfu Town in the distance. Approached through an iron gate, it is half hidden in greenery broken up with bright splashes of geraniums and sweet-smelling wild sage and rosemary.

The cottages are suitable for both families and couples looking for accommodation of comfort and character in well-maintained surroundings, along one of the loveliest stretches of the Corfu coast.

Please note: Based on return flights from the UK - supplements / reductions may be applicable depending on flight & class availability at time of booking.

how this holiday makes a difference
The local owner who built the cottages using local building materials and suppliers has ensured that all the properties are in keeping with the local environment. Not only does this help the local economy but it ensures that they blend in with the local style of architecture. The furniture is mainly produced by local craftsmen using traditional techniques.

Pool, Self catering cottages in CorfuThe information pack at each accommodation and our country representative promote many of the local mini-markets, tavernas and businesses to ensure that local people receive maximum economic benefit from tourist income. Recycling bins are provided for clients in order to recycle paper, bottles and cans which we then collect for recycling at a central location.

As a company we aim to encourage local economic growth and to work in harmony with local communities and to respect their culture, traditions and environments. All of our owners (bar one) and suppliers used are local.

We prefer to employ the services of independent local business as suppliers in each of their destinations. We work with local car hire firms for all our car rentals, boat hire firms for boat rental and we utilize the services of local village shops and mini markets to compile our welcome hampers.

We also encourage our guests to use the services of local restaurants and shops, archeological sites/excursions - always booking through locals rather than large multi national companies. In addition to this we encourage our guests to visit local attractions and beaches within the area they are staying, as opposed to suggesting they go further afield.

Tourism can be good and bad for destinations & local people.

We carefully screen every holiday against our criteria for responsible travel.

'Look behind the brochure' to find how each holiday makes a difference (see left).

We don't claim to be perfect - there is no global accreditation - but we've led the way since 2001 and screened 1000's of holidays.

We invite every traveller to write a review about their experiences and responsible tourism.

This valuable feedback is sent to the people who run the holidays. We keep a very close eye on it and take off holidays that don't live up to our standards.
