Algarve holiday cottages, ideal for families
These Algarve holiday cottages occupy an acre of hilltop set in breathtaking Algarvian countryside in total peace & tranquillity & overlooks the market town of Loulé. Parts of the Quinta date back to mid 19th Century and are divided up into 4 apartment cottages, one large 2 bed apartment cottage, Orange; and 2 newer 1 bed apartment cottages, Lemon and Carob; and a rustic duplex cottage, Casa do Forno. All have their own separate entrances, own kitchens, private south-facing sun terraces & Bar-B-Q areas. All of our Algarve holiday cottages have been furnished to a very high standard with cane and pine furniture. During the winter months, heating is included in the tariffs.
The gardens are marvellous with many bushes, plants & fruit trees, along with quiet areas to relax and absorb the views. There is a large pool area & the added bonus of a hot tub & from October until the end of April the pool is heated. From spring 2008 there is also a children’s play area set amidst an orange grove.

The cottages are located in the Central Algarve, high on a hilltop surrounded by magnificent countryside ideal for walkers, bird watchers and cycling. We can arrange for cycles to be delivered to the apartments and they also have child seats available too. The Casa Do Forno Cottage is a one bedroom rustic duplex cottage tastefully decorated and boasting many original features from the old Quinta. The bedroom has a double bed, wardrobe and sloping cane ceilings with wooden beams. The crows nest lounge area has spectacular views and has a radio/CD player with MP3 reader (guests to bring own CDs).
The kitchen/dining area has the original bread oven dating back to the 19th century original floor tiles and stone sink from the Quinta. The kitchen comprises of fridge with freezer compartment, microwave, mini electric oven, electric kettle, toaster and gas hob. From the dining area there are doors leading on to a completely private terrace with Bar-B-Q, table and chairs and cushioned reclining chairs. There is also a wood burning stove for the cooler winter evenings. The cottage sleeps a maximum of 2 adults only.
The Orange Cottage is a large two bedroom rustic cottage decorated in typical Algarvian décor with a brand new fully fitted modern kitchen including an electric oven, gas hob, fridge/freezer, dishwasher, microwave, electric kettle & toaster. The lounge/diner is tastefully decorated and has a comfy leather three piece suite, 36 inch widescreen TV, Satellite TV (free to view channels), DVD (guests to bring own DVDs) video (small selection of videos available) & radio/CD player (guests to bring own CDs). The cottage boasts an original 19th century fireplace that now houses the wood-burning stove. Double doors lead on to the very large private terrace with its own table and chairs, brick Bar-B-Q area and reclining chairs. The bathroom has a new luxury double walk-in shower. The bedrooms consist of one double bed & one twin bed both with sloping wooden ceilings. There is also a digital security safe in the cottage. The cottage sleeps a maximum of 4 adults & an infant.
The Carob Cottage & Lemon Cottage are light and airy one bedroom cottages, each with a large bedroom that has a double bed and patio doors leading on to the sun terrace. The bedroom is large enough to also accommodate a single bed too or this can be used in the lounge area of a night time. The bathroom has a new luxury bathroom with shower. The spacious lounge/diner has a large comfy leather sofa, Satellite TV (free to view channels) and patio doors leading onto a private terrace with tables and chairs, brick Bar-B-Q’s and reclining chairs.
The brand new modern kitchenette comprise of fridge with freezer compartment, microwave, mini electric oven, electric kettle, toaster, mini electric oven and electric hob. The cottage sleep a maximum of 3 people in each and this cottage has the added benefit of gas central heating for the cooler winter months. This is already included in the price. The Lemon Cottage has the added benefit of it’s own lemon tree on the terrace to give you added shade.
There is a large pool area and cushioned sun loungers, and parasols etc are provided for. There is also a hot tub spa Jacuzzi for guest use. On arrival the owners will meet you and awaiting your arrival will be a very generous welcome hamper in your accommodation compliments of the house.
Family & baby friendly: We are a family friendly establishment, we do not charge for children under the age of 2 and provide free of charge a cot with linen, high chair, changing mat, baby bath with towel, potty, floor activity centre, bouncy cradle (up to six months), baby bottle steriliser, children’s plates and cutlery. We also have a children’s play area available from May 2008 with swing, slide, see-saw, children’s playhouse etc. Our pool area is also gated for the added peace of mind.
Over 50's: The Algarve Holiday Cottages are suitable for families with babies and young children, couples larger travelling parties and the over 50s. The peacefulness of the area gives you the opportunity to enjoy nature, but not too far from Loule town only a 2 minute drive away and the coast with its many blue flag beaches and world famous golf courses is only a 10 minute drive away. There are three one bedroom accommodations and a large two bedroom apartment cottage; this is ideal for couples or couples travelling together. Three of the four accommodations are on ground floor, and with the owners living on site, should you need any assistance, they are always there to help, but will never infringe on your privacy. All the accommodations are equipped, furnished and decorated to high standards with all the comforts of home.
The Algarve Holiday Cottages are open all year round, great for the outdoor lovers enabling you to discover the real Algarve, and being surrounded by beautiful Algarvian countryside, this area attracts many active over 50’s interested in walking, (walking information provided in all the accommodations) cycling (we can arrange for bikes to be delivered to your accommodation), bird watching tours (guided tours available to book), historic towns, quaint villages and of course the delicious Portuguese food and vino.

For those who decide to stay inland and stay here a the Algarve Holiday Cottages, on arrival you will be rewarded and surprised by our lofty setting as you eye wanders over the truly magnificent panoramic sea views, over the hills and down to the coast – views from Faro through to Portimao – over 60 kms of views, a view that is particularly entrancing at night and truly beautiful in the day. Being those few kilometres inland, here you will experience a little of the real Algarve, locals going about their business, tending their land, looking after their livestock which regularly go past our accommodations early morning and late afternoon, where neighbours wish to help with anything that is needed, where a community still actively exists, where traditional crafts are still performed in the old fashioned way as taught by their ancestors and the old fashioned way of purchasing – by the exchange of produce or services for payment with each other is still of uttermost importance.

We are so passionate about our local surrounding area and the wildlife that visits us every year that we have a bird watching tour for people to see the beautiful flora and fauna the Algarve has to offer. For those who have attended our tour, they are amazed and always come back for more. The Algarve is a place where people live and work, just for holidays. In all our accommodations we provide our guests with information regarding local shops, locally family-run restaurants, bars & shops. We also provide a guide to help guests find ceramics, copperware, leather etc, they make excellent souvenirs or gifts for family and friends and our accommodations have endless local artefacts enhancing our location and the history of the area. Our Algarve holiday cottages have solar panels that generate enough hot water for bathing & washing-up throughout pretty much the whole year. Water is provided from a borehole and rain water is collected in a tank and reused for garden irrigation. We also ask our guests to be aware of the water shortage in the Algarve and use dirty washing up water and water the plants surrounding their accommodation. The recycling of building materials can be seen at the accommodation. Our pathways through our gardens have been made from local stone and rocks. Our perimeter walls, also local stone and rocks. We also employ local tradesmen to ensure that any building is made in a traditional way to stay in keeping so that we blend in with our environment. We have a marble terrace made from old marble from a fireplace – absolutely nothing goes to waste. We support local farmers by getting firewood for the wood burning stoves for our cooler winter months. We also support a local abandoned animal kennels – all our blankets, towels, sheets etc that are no longer used are given to the kennels. When the interiors of the properties are upgraded, all the old furniture is given to a local charity where the proceeds are used to help the needy – orphaned children, the elderly. |
