description
The beguiling Patrimonio wine country just south of Cap Corse is at times reminiscent of Tuscany.
Right on the edge of it are these brand new cottages, a real find in a small residential area between St Florent and the village of Patrimonio.
Beyond the garden’s cypresses and olive trees, you can just see the village snuggling around its much photographed church. To the other side, the view is bucolic: rolling hills covered in vines – the ones that produce some of the island’s most palatable wines. A number of highly rated restaurants have also taken root around the area, so you will eat well too.
Unwinding by the shared pool in the lovely setting of L’Aghja cottages is heaven, for there are bound to be days when you’ll want to come to a halt rather than seek a beach, case the harbour shops in St Florent or even go for wine-tasting forays among the vineyards.

Set in the beguiling Patrimonio wine country each of our guests is given some local wine by the hospitable owners. The information pack in the cottages and our representative promote many of the local mini-markets, restaurants and businesses, in particular the local vineyards. We are proud to promote responsible travel and would very much like to encourage our guests to be proactive in recycling and utilising local recycling facilities, in order to help us make a positive impact in maintaining the beauty and harmony of this stunning island. Details of the nearest recycling facilities, provided by the council, can be found in your villa and your information guide. We encourage you to use these facilities during your stay in Corsica. If you do have any further queries regarding recycling please contact your local representative. All our villas contain an information pack promoting other local shops, restaurants and local places of interest, especially in the smaller rural communities. Our country representatives have detailed knowledge of local businesses and facilities and are able to ensure that clients are well informed on where to buy local produce in order to support the local economy. As a company we aim to encourage local economic growth and to work in harmony with local communities and to respect their culture, traditions and environments. All of our owners and suppliers used are local. We prefer to employ the services of independent local business as suppliers in each of their destinations. We work with local car hire firms for all our car rentals and we utilize the services of local village shops and mini markets to compile our welcome hampers. We also encourage our guests to use the services of local restaurants and shops, archaeological sites/excursions - always booking through locals rather than large multi national companies. In addition to this we encourage our guests to visit local attractions and beaches within the area they are staying, as opposed to suggesting they go further afield. |
Tourism can be good and bad for destinations & local people. We carefully screen every holiday against our criteria for responsible travel. 'Look behind the brochure' to find how each holiday makes a difference (see left). We don't claim to be perfect - there is no global accreditation - but we've lead the way since 2001 and screened 1000's of holidays. We invite every traveller to write a review about their experiences and responsible tourism. This valuable feedback is sent to the people who run the holidays. We keep a very close eye on it and take off holidays that don't live up to our standards. |
