Self catering accommodation in Crieff, Perthshire
Our two-bedroomed flat is available for self-catering holidays, running from Saturday to Saturday, though at short notice or off-peak we are happy to rent it out for short breaks.

Conveniently located in the centre of Scotland in the small market town of Crieff in Perthshire. The garden flat is decorated with an artistic eye and has original artwork on the walls. It has its own private entrance and small cottage style garden with a mosaic patio table and chairs, and a BBQ. The garden is very peaceful and secluded. Any help to water the many pot plants is much appreciated!

This is an ideal base for your Scottish holiday. Crieff is situated in the Strathearn area of Perthshire, Scotland, with views of the Grampian Mountains. Neighbouring towns and villages include Auchterarder, Gleneagles and Comrie. Within Perth & Kinross, the towns of Pitlochry, Aberfeldy, Blairgowrie, and the City of Perth are all with in a day trip distance of Crieff, giving you plenty of touring time with many roads touching on the Highlands. St Andrews, the home of golf, Edinburgh, Stirling and Glasgow are all within easy distance.

Crieff and the immediate area hosts a variety of Visitor Attractions, including the award winning Famous Grouse Experience, The Crieff Visitor Centre which hosts the Drovers' Story, Auchingarrich Wildlife Park, and Innerpeffrey Library. The area is also renowned for its walking, with an annual walking festival 'The Drovers' Tryst' taking place in October, for the range of 9 and 18 hole golf courses and fishing. Many other outdoor pursuits are also available in the area.

rooms, food and facilities
Double roomThe large sitting room with two settees also has a dining area in the bay window, which looks over the main garden and out to superb sunsets. There is a TV and video, and the sideboard is full of board games and videos for all ages.

The kitchen is fully equipped. The crockery is locally made Buchan Pottery, which can be bought from the Crieff Visitor Centre. There is an electric oven and hob, microwave and bread machine, though there are plenty of restaurants and take-away should you wish not to cook!

Twin roomThe double bedroom overlooks the main garden, but there is planting to ensure your privacy. Decorated in a cool blue, with embroidered quilt and duvet, and 1930's furniture, the room is a tranquil one for relaxing in.

The twin bedded room overlooks the flat's private garden and is south facing. In a zingy orange, the room glows on a sunny day. There is plenty of space for children to play in this room. The bathroom features Katy's oeuvre, a full mosaic representing a library of books. There is a bath with a shower over, sink, toilet and vanity area.

MosaicWhere possible, we aim to make your stay with us the best that it can possibly be. We can lend you books, suggest a days itinerary, or give you an insight to living in Scotland. We received a Special Commendation from the Glenturret Distillery Award for exceeding customer expectations. We operate a no-smoking policy, but benches with an ashtray are provided outside for those who chose to smoke.

Family friendly: We are very child friendly, having two children of our own. We are able to suggest day-time activities and child-friendly restaurants & cafes in the area. There is a range of videos, toys, books and jigsaws available in the Garden Flat, plus your children are welcome to use our trampoline & table tennis table in our garden. The new garden mosaic has been designed to provide interest to young children.

Baby friendly: We have a travel cot and high chair available with prior notice, plus a range of baby books and toys. Our son does offer a baby-sitting service, subject to his availability.

Cycling & walking friendly: Maps and walking books are available to borrow. We have a drying room, and outside lines which can be used by guests. We offer a lockable shed for storing your own bikes, or alternatively know where you can hire bikes from. Horse riding, golf and fishing are also available in the area. As organizer of the local Walking & Outdoors festival, Katy has many contacts who offer guided walks and outdoor activities, from fly fishing tuition to bush craft days and deer spotting of an evening.

how this holiday makes a difference
In the garden flat we use mostly low-energy light bulbs, offer controls on the heating system to avoid unnecessary waste, minimise water waste by providing a shower over the bath and the use of hippos in the cistern. We provide information to our guests, both in our information pack available within the flat and on our website, about our environmental policy and how guests can help (such as what items can be recycled where, local food & environmentally aware shops, public transport details to name but a few). We also provide information about carbon off-set, as we are aware that most visitors need to use a car to get to us.

Where possible we use local shops ourselves, and encourage the use of them by our visitors. Our fruit, vegetables and herbs from the garden are grown without pesticides and are used where possible, and we are happy to share with garden flat guests. A welcome pack is provided on arrival for guests staying for the week, which includes Katy's homemade jams (from local ingredients) and marmalade. We also feature a lot of local crafts in our home, from stained glass windows to copper headboards. Mosaics using reclaimed & recycled tiles & ceramics feature strongly in the garden flat, both inside and out.

Katy is also the Market Manager for a monthly market which takes place in Crieff from April to October, where she fully supports local food producers and local craftspeople. She is also the coordinator for a walking & outdoors festival, the Crieff & Strathearn Drovers’ Tryst.

Tourism can be good and bad for destinations & local people.

We carefully screen every holiday against our criteria for responsible travel.

'Look behind the brochure' to find how each holiday makes a difference (see left).

We don't claim to be perfect - there is no global accreditation - but we've led the way since 2001 and screened 1000's of holidays.

We invite every traveller to write a review about their experiences and responsible tourism.

This valuable feedback is sent to the people who run the holidays. We keep a very close eye on it and take off holidays that don't live up to our standards.
