  • how this holiday makes a difference
We are actively involved in the Bay hill neighbourhood watch and house organisation. This acts in alleviating crime in our neighbourhood by looking after other people's properties in their absence. We have donated numerous pillows to the Miltom cato Memorial Hospital. We have assisted of a young man in the completion of his studies who is now temporarily employed at the apartments. We have sponsored a cricket team in the annual Sion Hill cricket tournament which made it to the Semi Finals. As part of our tour package one of our tours is visiting the indigenous people, this will entail learning their culture, their language, the origin etc.

We practice solid conservation methods including:
  • All the lights are energy saving and or fluorescent bulbs. We utilize solar energy for hot water to bathe instead of electric heaters. In our quest to sensitise our guests on the importance of conservation, we have issued a slogan 'turn off if not in use'. House keeping monitors how well they comply. At the end of their stay, the room/s that practiced these conservation methods will be awarded. We have made requisition for the purchasing of tokens to operate our air conditioning. All of this in our quest to reduce and conserve.
  • We also practice proper waste management in that all the food scraps are decomposed in an earth machine to produce compost, the waste from the land turtle and the parrot will be dried along with the compost from the earth machine to make manure. The manure that is produced is used around our flower garden and fruit and vegetables. We also plant in our vegetable garden tomatoes, lettuce, egg plants sweet & hot peppers, plantains mangoes etc to ensure that our guests consume as much organic produce as possible. For those who consume fish, being so close to the beach, we sometimes purchase fish directly from the fishermen instead of from the supermarkets or the fish markets.
  • For the more adventurous we offer in one of our tours Kayaking fishing. In this tour our guests get to see, feel and experience the capture of the fish directly from the source which they will later consume. All of this is done to consume fresh & organic products. And to further reduce the importation of similar products, which will inevitably benefit the country holistically.
  • We all know that water is a precious commodity, hence we have to conserve it. At our establishment we store up rain water in large barrels proceeding the dry season. This will be used to water the plants, wash the tour buses, instead of consuming too much fresh or public water.
  • Some hotels clean & disinfect solely with bleach & disinfectant. But our establishment uses a disinfectant or cleaning product made solely from organic products with the main ingredient being orange peel this is to reduce the utilization of harsh chemicals in our drainage system which will inevitably leak into our rivers and the sea destroying our marine life bearing in mind the fact that we operate in close proximity to the ocean.
  • On the property there are many flowers & fruit trees which will ultimately attract wildlife.

We make significant contributions in the local area. Even though it is a family owned & operated we still see the need to hire outside personnel totalling 6 persons and in so doing, they are able to provide for their families and contribute towards the GDP of the country. Being locally owned, this means any revenue earned stays in the country therefore benefiting the county's GDP & Balance of Payment. Our motto where possible is hire, consume & buy locally.
  • Tourism can be good and bad for destinations & local people.

We carefully screen every holiday against our criteria for responsible travel.

'Look behind the brochure' to find how each holiday makes a difference (see left).

We don't claim to be perfect - there is no global accreditation - but we've led the way since 2001 and screened 1000's of holidays.

We invite every traveller to write a review about their experiences and responsible tourism.

This valuable feedback is sent to the people who run the holidays. We keep a very close eye on it and take off holidays that don't live up to our standards.
