description
Our farmhouse located in southern Poland. It is a perfect place for all those who seek a quiet, natural, and healthy holiday. Located in the heart of the hilly region of Lesser Poland (Malopolska), 40 km from Krakow and 100 km from Zakopane, it gives you a chance to either spend a holiday far from city noise in the Beskid Mountains, or visit Krakow – one of Poland's most beautiful cities. You can also combine resting in the countryside with visiting, sightseeing and hiking.
The house was built half a century ago but it was refurbished in 2006. All the rooms are fully furnished in a nice and pleasant style. It has a nice spacious garden where you can sit and relax, listen to birds' singing, sunbathe and have a barbecue or a camp fire. The garden is fenced, so parents can be sure that their children are safe here. Children can play ball, badminton and play in the sandpit.
In the garden there is an old smithy, where you can see original blacksmith's tools, and a barn. Both the smithy, which is made of stone, and the wooden barn contribute to the atmosphere, giving it a country touch.
The farmhouse is ideal for families. Pets are welcome. The house and the garden are at the disposal of the guests only. We will take care of everything and make sure that our guests have a nice stay here but at the same time respect their privacy.Camp fires and barbecues The visiting of the Ecocentre Workshops (e.g. clay and straw building).

Environment
We take care of the environment, by segregating waste - paper, plastic, metal and compost and recycling. We save energy by using energy saving light bulbs. The house is heated by a wood stove and we use the wood from our own forest. Water (and in autumn and spring also the house) is heated by solar thermal collectors. We have a big solar thermal installation. We collect rainwater and use it to water plants in the garden. We encourage our guest to save energy and water. The house and the smithy were constructed at the beginning of 20th century using locally available materials: sandstone, locally made clay bricks and wood. The house was renovated in 2007. While preserving the traditional design and materials the house got new heat insulation to fulfill requirements of standards set for a modern energy saving house. Community We employ local people and are on friendly terms with our neighbours who also find employment at our farmhouse and our company. They help manage the house and garden and also do renovation work when necessary. We do our best to make nice working conditions for them. At the same time we can always count on them. Ecocentre: We cooperate closely with an Ecocentre and run workshops thus educating people and raising awareness. The goal of the ecocentre is to present and to promote different ecologically sound technologies. The ecocentre was created to teach through experience. This is why all the buildings in the ecocentre are built using energy-saving clay and straw techniques and equipped with installations which allow the use of renewable energy sources like solar, wind and biomass. The visitors can see how the devices that are presented work in practice, ask questions to the experts or buy materials on the topic they are interested in. Occasionally the ecocentre organizes courses on ecological technologies and green lifestyle. Courses: The courses organized by the ecocentre are related to ecological technologies, organic farming and green lifestyle. The courses are organized for different target groups: school children, students, professionals and individual homeowners. The ecocentre organizes also special courses for foreign groups on traditional Polish farming methods, traditional handycraft, cooking as well ecological technologies and green lifestyle. We are running the lectures and workshops (as lecturers) on the use of solar and wind energy. |
Tourism can be good and bad for destinations & local people. We carefully screen every holiday against our criteria for responsible travel. 'Look behind the brochure' to find how each holiday makes a difference (see left). We don't claim to be perfect - there is no global accreditation - but we've led the way since 2001 and screened 1000's of holidays. We invite every traveller to write a review about their experiences and responsible tourism. This valuable feedback is sent to the people who run the holidays. We keep a very close eye on it and take off holidays that don't live up to our standards. |
