Here you can see Sad Fly Catchers, Streamer Tail “doctor birds” – because their long tails resemble the tailcoats once worn by medical men - Chestnut Bellied Cuckoos, also known as Old Man Bird and the smaller Jamaican Lizard-Cuckoo known as Old Woman Bird because their extra-ordinary calls sound like grumbling senior citizens, Hopping Dicks, Auntie Katie, Big Tom Fool and the Duppy Bird to name a few. Hiking: Jamaica is a fabulous location for hiking. We can organise guided hikes with community members (approx. US $15 per day) and qualified guides (approx. Local community visits: We offer activities and learning experiences to our guests that raise awareness of Jamaica's unique cultural heritage which in turns provides employment, whilst wherever possible we source local products from local suppliers helping to cut down on food miles. Beyond creating the original 'Jerk Trail' we encourage our guests to visit our local Maroon Community in Charles Town where they can enjoy a story-led botanical hike led by the representative of the Maroons, Colonel Lumsden to the ruins of an 18th century coffee estate.

The breeze-cooled rooms have fans (and blankets for the cool winter nights!), cotton linen, mosquito nets, tropical plants, attractive hand printed floral fabrics, hand crofted bamboo furniture and original artwork - simple elegance with an individual touch and a Caribbean flair.
There are 2 types of rooms - comfortable Garden view rooms (with views over the garden and sea) and Superior rooms on the upper level with views over the lush hillside and the sea. All have balconies with panoramic vistas, hammocks, coffee-making facilities, radio/clock, hairdryer, make-up magnifying mirror, lotions and body care items from Blue Mountains Aromatics, handmade recycled paper stationery, chocolate tea balls, recipe collection of our popular dishes and a safety box. There is no in-room television or telephone to disturb the calm and guests are greeted by fresh flower arrangements, a tropical fruit plate and cool spring water. The Superior rooms also include bathrobes, CD player and a pack of Blue Mountain coffee.
