The hotel is the ideal base to explore the cultural triangle of Sri Lanka. The hotel is in close proximity to the Dambulla cave temples of the 2nd century BC, and the ancient cities of Anuradhapura and Polonnaruwa are easily accessible as well. There are a number of other attractions such as the Pidurangala temple and rock climb, as well as the Kaludiyapokuna and Ritigala archaeological sites for those who want to further explore the rich cultural heritage of this island nation. Guests could also take a village walk, where they get to experience village life in rural Sri Lanka, untouched by the frills of modern day living.

Those with a penchant for wildlife could take one of the many bird watching trails or jungle treks organized by the hotel. The Minneriya national park is only 20 minutes away as well, where one could see herds as large 70 or 80 elephants roaming in the wild. The less adventurous ones could visit the eco centre at the hotel and browse through the comprehensive library in order to immerse themselves in a true nature – culture experience. Alternately, guests could spend their day playing a game of tennis or badminton, lounging in the swimming pool or enjoying a relaxing Ayurveda treatment.

  • Tourism can be good and bad for destinations & local people.

We carefully screen every holiday against our criteria for responsible travel.

'Look behind the brochure' to find how each holiday makes a difference (see left).

We don't claim to be perfect - there is no global accreditation - but we've led the way since 2001 and screened 1000's of holidays.

We invite every traveller to write a review about their experiences and responsible tourism.

This valuable feedback is sent to the people who run the holidays. We keep a very close eye on it and take off holidays that don't live up to our standards.
