description
Designed by one of Thailand’s leading architects, Duangrit Bunnag, Alila Cha-Am is a tropical getaway that defies convention.

Set in the charming coastal town of Cha-Am, on the north west coast of the Gulf of Thailand, this luxurious beachside resort is designed to be a sophisticated and contemporary lifestyle destination.

From the grand entrance stairway to the rooftop reflecting pool, every detail is understated yet unforgettable. The Horizon rooms, Garden Terrace rooms and Pool Villas are conceived as personal retreats – spacious and elegant. Privacy is paramount, with intimate hideaways nestled amid sprawling lawns and azure pools.

The resort truly defines style from fine dining in Clouds Loft to the Spa and The Red – a cool hangout by day, hip bar by night. Whether chilling out in private or with company, this beach resort sets the mood for absolute relaxation.

This luxury accommodation lies on the premier beach resort of Petchaburi on the sunrise side of the Gulf of Thailand, 163 km south of Bangkok and 26 km north of Hua Hin. The landscape here is characterised by dense jungles and mountain ranges. A leisurely drive from Bangkok takes about 2.5 hours.

Once a fishing village, Cha-Am offers a laidback pace of life, and a more tranquil atmosphere than neighbouring Hua Hin beach. Its main appeal is its clean, white sand beach, which is thought to be the longest in Thailand, and which is where you will find a choice of excellent seafood restaurants.

Design
The moment you arrive at the resort, you know you are in for an exquisite experience. The magnificent stairway that greets you climbs up to reveal beautifully landscaped gardens, relaxation and reflection pools, and a labyrinth of private terraces and courtyards, stretching towards the ocean in full view beyond.

You can almost imagine you have the place to yourself - a feeling created by the clever interconnection of open spaces with private pathways and features designed for intimacy such as custom-designed couples cabanas. Through lighting and landscaping, the mood shifts from season to season, from day to night, creating a totally natural environment that brings all the elements into perfect harmony.
special things to do and see here
When it comes to activities, there is much variety, from champagne picnics on the beach to energetic pursuits such as water sports and cycling. Take a tour of the ancient temples and pagodas that dot the surrounding area. Or pay a visit to the summer palace of King Rama VI (Marukhathaiyawan Palace) less than 10 km south of Cha-Am. The hotel is also conveniently close to the Springfield Country Club, the Palm Hills Golf Resort and Cha-Am Forest Park.

Chill Pool and The Red
The hotel's central zone is where you'll find the Chill Pool and The Red. Flanked on all sides by relaxation decks, the Chill Pool is an intimate chill-out spot for adult guests. After lounging by day, be pampered by specially created evening spa treatments under the soothing night sky.

Beside the pool, enter The Red, the perfect place for mellowing out over afternoon tea, transforming into ultra cool bar as night falls, serving up designer cocktails and chill-out music. A superbly versatile space, The Red is also a sensational setting for meetings, conferences, private dinners and parties.

The Spa
At the Spa, we are committed to providing unique treatments from the heart, blending ancient Asian healing techniques with age-old beauty recipes featuring the curative benefits of fresh, natural, quality ingredients. Trained in anatomical physiology, massage, meditation and service, our local therapists combine the latest organic nutrition and health knowledge with the most essential element - warm, genuine care that flows from the heart through the hands, to stimulate, rejuvenate, balance and relax your mind and body.

Library
The Library offers a place of quiet respite. With a comprehensive selection of current magazines, novels and reference books, you'll find many ways to unwind. The Library also offers complete business centre facilities with wifi, computers, and printers.

Here you can savour a mix of the finest local and international cuisine.

As the name suggests, Clouds Loft serves up a memorable experience on the rooftop, where the clouds and stars are reflected into the pool to magical effect. The restaurant's zen style exudes glamour and sophistication. The pace is unhurried. Take your time as you savour innovative dishes inspired by the chef's free flow of creativity. Or make yourself comfortable on a daybed at the bar, and simply drink in the beauty of the night sky.

how this holiday makes a difference
In order to deliver a complete destination experience, we are also encouraging guests to experience and explore the rich local culture on a trail through rural villages and the region’s many temples. Moreover, Alila Cha-Am, as well as encouraging client to support charities in local area, is promoting its commitment to Responsible Tourism. We have adopted the local Bang Khet School with a host of ongoing activities involving both staffs and guests. Proceeds from our current Splurge Package will go towards buying much needed equipment for the school. Even our corporate client, Holcim, donated a generous amount of cash plus six laptops to the school during their October conference, and it has expressed its wish to continue supporting this worthy cause in collaboration with Alila Cha-Am.

In addition, Alila Cha-Am’s concept is environmentally sensitive (Conscious Living Green Globe Certified) the local environment conservation project is supported by Alila Cha-Am. The festival of Loy Krathong for instance, which was celebrated on November at Alila Cha-Am, pitched the various departments of the hotel, clients and the local Bang Khet school together to enjoy this romantic festival. The school children helped teach guests the art of making krathong. Traditionally Krathong are made from bamboo, intricately folded pieces of banana leaf and decorated with candles, incense sticks and flowers that let the people think out about keeping pollution and environment.

Alila Cha-Am try to support employees and the local business whenever possible. We train our people to have the right attitude, skills and knowledge in order to work efficiently, be prompt and accurate. An ambassador of local heritage is also an important role for our staffs to share their local knowledge and culture to guests.

Tourism can be good and bad for destinations & local people.

We carefully screen every holiday against our criteria for responsible travel.

'Look behind the brochure' to find how each holiday makes a difference (see left).

We don't claim to be perfect - there is no global accreditation - but we've led the way since 2001 and screened 1000's of holidays.

We invite every traveller to write a review about their experiences and responsible tourism.

This valuable feedback is sent to the people who run the holidays. We keep a very close eye on it and take off holidays that don't live up to our standards.
