description
Guests staying at our cottages can now avail of a coaching experience over a weekend or longer stay. The coaching can then continue over the telephone or via skype once the guest has returned to their own base. My philosophy of coaching is to create trust which allows the client to work on deep and sensitive issues. Observers and clients have described this as being an 'emotionally intelligent' coach.
The coaching experience takes place at prearranged times over the weekend or week and provides for time for the client to have the time to reflect, consider and journal their experiences. A typical weekend would consist of two sessions of about 1.5 hours each while a week long stay would allow for increased engagement. The coaching is also supported by the provision of a journey journal where the client can reflect and decide on actions emerging from the process.
Arrival and departure dates are flexible from Oct 1st to March 31st. Trips outside of these dates are subject to a Saturday arrival and departure.

- Coaching is a process where the client reaches new and deeper understandings of themselves in their business or personal life. The purpose of coaching is to empower and create an opportunity for self enrichment.
- Coaching is of value because the 'thinking', 'decisions' and 'doings' are all the work of the client and the client only does what they feel is needed and appropriate to them at that particular time in their life.
- Coaching is progression focused where the client moves forward on the issue or topic they wish to explore in a session. It is not therapy or counselling.

how this holiday makes a difference
|
Environment:
We have a recycling system in place for glass, cardboard, food waste etc. The cottages are insulated to a high standard and we have used non toxic paints and water based varnishes. We restored two old derelict buildings dating back before the 1860's and recycled a lot of materials in the building process. We meter electricity charges so visitors are encouraged not to waste. We use a composting bin for vegetable waste. Guests are provided with bicycles free of charge and we can arrange pick up from the nearest train or bus station. Community: Niall Heenan has worked with individuals and communities in the area of personal and community development for almost 20 years. By combining his work as a coach and as owner of a sustainable rural tourism business Niall has created a new enterprise that brings guests to the community with consequent benefits for pubs, restaurants, transport operators etc. The money from these local businesses circulates locally and helps sustain a rural community. All labour and inputs sourced locally as much as possible. Guest are encouraged to take part in local life such as Irish dancing classes, attend local shows and support other local enterprises such as restaurants, craft shops etc. We encourage guests to avail of our local organic supplier of vegetables which can be delivered to your cottage. The local shops and pubs are all owned by local families and there is a strong sense of community and visitors are always welcomed. During the summer months there are Irish Dancing and Social nights held in the village hall and all proceeds go to charity. |
Tourism can be good and bad for destinations & local people. We carefully screen every holiday against our criteria for responsible travel. 'Look behind the brochure' to find how each holiday makes a difference (see left). We don't claim to be perfect - there is no global accreditation - but we've led the way since 2001 and screened 1000's of holidays. We invite every traveller to write a review about their experiences and responsible tourism. This valuable feedback is sent to the people who run the holidays. We keep a very close eye on it and take off holidays that don't live up to our standards. |
