introduction to Yoga and detox holiday in Ireland

Refresh body and mind with a rejuvenating yoga and detox retreat. Take time to eat well, exercise and enjoy nature on this transformational holiday. Each day will begin with a yoga class, designed to wake up tired muscles and kick start the day. This will be followed by an ‘Uisce Hour’ (session in indoor/outdoor wet space with infrared ‘detox’ sauna and hot tub – Uisce means Water in Irish) which will eliminate toxins, burn calories and soothe muscles.

After a healthy organic meal we'll set off for a walk through the stunning Leitrim countryside, and take in the delights this beautiful county has to offer. When we return, there is some free time for you to rest and relax before the evening meal is served. Each night finishes with a restorative yoga and meditation class.

Every day we will be eating delicious organic vegan food, with a focus on fresh and local products. There will also be one freshly squeezed juice a day. This is not a 'fast'; it is a healthy diet based on excellent ingredients, designed to cleanse the body. You should never feel you are going hungry, nor should you 'starve' the body. Accommodation is in our beautifully unique Eco Cabins.

With the time to dedicate purely to yourself, in combination with rejuvenating yoga, walks through beautiful western Ireland and the best in nutrition, you will leave feeling brand new.

Spring and Autumn are the best times to visit, and the time when the weather is best. Frequently, these seasons are warmer and drier than our 'summer'! Autumn is a magical time, with the leaves on all of our surrounding trees turning orange and red, and the last of the wild blackberries and mushrooms abounding. Spring is particularly special – everything comes into bloom and the nature comes to life, with our vegetable and flower patches full of colour. In winter, our pellet stoves keep the Eco Cabins toasty and warm, and we've previously held retreats in the snow – perfect for a winter wonderland!

how this holiday makes a difference
    Environment:
Our Eco Cabins are revolutionary in their design. Built with timber frames, local sustainable cedar cladding, finished with eco paints and with no petrol chemicals used throughout, our accommodation is the latest in ethical construction. We have been awarded the EU Flower for environmental quality, and this is represented throughout the entire centre. Our yoga classes take place in our custom designed yoga studio, which was built during our ‘green renovation’.

We use no chemicals cleaning products and our gardens are totally organic. We have an organic grower who during the growing season provides a greenbox scheme to our guests and to our own kitchen. We minimise and recycle and compost our waste. We reduce water usage and collect rainwater for water plants and washing windows etc. We also have a rainwater pond for use in the event of a fire.

We have The Celtic Nature Trail which educates and documents all the mythological, botanical, culinary and medicinal use of our native plants and trees. Our gardens are home to badgers, hares and foxes. The lake beneath us – Lough Nahoo is a sanctuary for wild birds. On our daily guided walks we leave no impact on the beautiful local environment, and educate our guests on the flora and fauna we view.

On this holiday we place emphasis on fresh and natural produce. We employ a fantastic local vegan chef, who prepares seasonal organic food, most of which is produced in her own garden.

    Community:
We employ locals. We buy our basics from the local shops and encourage our guests use local shops, pubs and restaurants.

Tourism can be good and bad for destinations & local people.

We carefully screen every holiday against our criteria for responsible travel.

'Look behind the brochure' to find how each holiday makes a difference (see left).

We don't claim to be perfect - there is no global accreditation - but we've led the way since 2001 and screened 1000's of holidays.

We invite every traveller to write a review about their experiences and responsible tourism.

This valuable feedback is sent to the people who run the holidays. We keep a very close eye on it and take off holidays that don't live up to our standards.
