Even if you aren't an avid bird watcher, bring your binoculars. Jordan is one of the richest countries on earth for birdlife: it is a meeting point for the birdlife of three continents.
Twice a year, migrating birds from Europe, Asia and Africa pass through on their way to and from breeding grounds. Many are attracted down from the skies by Jordan's natural habitats and wildlife reserves to spend time resting on route.
Jordan is so important to bird species that almost 10% of its entire landmass has been designated an Important Birding Area. IBAs are internationally recognised places of significant importance to vulnerable bird species.
Some of the key sites for bird watching are Azraq Wetland Reserve, Wadi Rum and Dana Reserve.
