Peru has been home to many civilisations, most notably the Incas, whose ancient cities and fortresses are still being discovered across this fascinating region. Our three-part itinerary includes the Inca Trail, which takes in beautiful mountain and jungle scenery as we follow a historic route to Machu Picchu, the best-preserved and most stunningly situated Inca ruins.
In the 15th century Peru was the heartland of the Inca Empire with Cusco as its capital. But with the arrival of the Spanish Conquistadors, the conquest of the region was completed in just a few short years. Today, Peru is rich in both Inca and Spanish colonial culture and we 'conquer' it in just a few days (minus the destruction and savagery).
This expedition will take you to two of the major archaeological sites in the Cusco-area and Peru: Choquekirao and Machu Picchu. The legends and knowledge of Machu Picchu ruin are well known and we also discover the lesser known ruin complex of Choquekirao.
From the colonial city of Arequipa, you embark on an amazing drive across a high barren Andean plateau en route to the incredible Colca Canyon. Here you’ll watch condors soaring majestically on thermals rising from the depths below.

If time is limited then this trip is probably the ideal tour. Discover the treasures of colonial Lima and then relax on beautiful Amantani Island on Lake Titicaca before uncovering the wonders of the Inca Empire in and around Cusco and along the mountain trails to Machu Picchu.
Leaving the fine colonial buildings and museums of Lima behind, we head southward down the Pan American Highway to our first stop, the desert town of Nazca - home to the mysterious Nazca Lines. Next stop is Arequipa, arguably Peru's most beautiful and charming city with the towering, cone shaped volcano, El Misti, forming a spectacular backdrop.
The soaring peaks of the Andes and the cultural legacies of the Incas are two of Peru’s most compelling attractions. We discover both. On our trek the pace changes as we venture beyond the Inca Trail establishing a series of spectacular campsites beneath a dramatic backdrop.

The highlight of this 8 day Peruvian adventure is a strenuous, 4-day trek to the lost Inca fortress Choquequirao--the other Machu Picchu. On our way to the lost city, we will follow the Apurimac Canyon, one of the world's deepest, while being awed by the shadows of snow-capped mountains and the local flora and fauna.
Support the charity of your choice as you encounter the land and descendants of the Incas, on this trip to Peru! Hike the Inca Trail to Machu Picchu & create a ‘recreational area’ at a local school benefiting some of Peru’s poorest communities.
The stunning Cordillera Huayhuash, one of the most dramatic mountain areas anywhere in the Andes, forms a constant back-drop on our rewarding thirteen day trek, the main feature of this tour.
