the amazing things you'll be doing
We have specially chartered two of the finest small yachts in the Galapagos for three 10 day cruises in partnership with the Galapagos Conservation Trust and hosted by the Charles Darwin Research Station.

These cruises are aimed at offering you a privileged insight into the man, the Islands and the organisation that was founded to conserve the unparalleled wildlife of the Galapagos.

These cruises take you away from the ‘run of the mill’ 8 day tours by combining more remote island visits with real insight into the extraordinary wildlife, the research and giant tortoise breeding programmes of the Research Station.

Here is a chance to meet the experts who have dedicated themselves to this natural paradise and be guided by the best expertise in the field. Enjoy privileged access to the Research Centre, take an optional hike up to the famous Sierra Negra volcano, and see some of the last remaining wild tortoises on Isabela and go backstage on the turtle conservation efforts supported by the Trust.

All funds raised will go to the Charles Darwin Research Station’s Herbarium section to support this vital conservation work on the islands.

Highlights
  • Most cruises are only 8 days in length, while these are 10 days
  • Allows access to areas less frequented by tourists, and spends longer on islands like Isabela
  • Allows option to walk or ride a horse up to the second largest volcanic caldera in the world
  • The viewing of wild tortoises
  • Back stage introduction into projects of Charles Darwin Research Station with resident experts
  • Each cruise raises up to US $5600 for Herberium Department of the Charles Darwin Research Station
Field expertise
Galapagos Conservation Trust and Charles Darwin Foundation & Research Station
- The key to thes 10 day cruises of the Galapagos is the expertise of its guiding staff. This is why we use the very best boats, whose guides are the best qualified on the islands, to graduate or doctorate standard in ecological sciences. Furthermore they have excellent communication skills, speaking good English that allow you to gain real insight into these unique isles. The guides work on a rota basis so exact guide will not be known till nearer the cruise date.

You are met by Roz Cameron on arrival at the Charles Darwin Research Station and given a privileged guided tour backstage on the Station and its breeding programmes, as well as being introduced to the Herbarium section which is the beneficiary of each cruise’s funds.

Tourism can be good and bad for destinations & local people.

We carefully screen every holiday against our criteria for responsible travel.

'Look behind the brochure' to find how each holiday makes a difference (see left).

We don't claim to be perfect - there is no global accreditation - but we've led the way since 2001 and screened 1000's of holidays.

We invite every traveller to write a review about their experiences and responsible tourism.

This valuable feedback is sent to the people who run the holidays. We keep a very close eye on it and take off holidays that don't live up to our standards.
