the amazing things you'll be doing
This is a great opportunity to discover the unique majesty of the Norwegian winter landscape. Located on the edge of Norway's Rondane National Park, our base at Rondablikk offers perfect terrain for an introductory snowshoe trip. Clipping into our snowshoes at the door of the hotel, we head out across the fresh snow to explore our surroundings, breaking trails as we go. Some routes keep to the low ground, passing log cabins hidden in the forest or crossing the frozen lake, while others climb over open hillsides and ascend gently to the top of easy summits, where the views are breathtaking. We include four days snowshoeing, building up distance gradually as we explore this winter wonderland, a day to try out cross-country skiing on the excellent trails that lead from the hotel, and a free day to try the optional dogsledding.
day-by-day itinerary
Day 1:Fly Heathrow to Oslo; transfer to Rondablikk (approx. 4 hours).
Days 2-4:Three guided snowshoe walks.
Day 5:Introduction to cross-country skiing.
Day 6:Free day for dogsledding, or unguided cross-country skiing and snowshoeing (all optional).
Day 7:Final snowshoe walk.
Day 8:Transfer to Oslo; fly to London.

Excellent. I would go again (more)
small group adventure holiday
Typically you will be sharing your experiences with between 4-20 like minded travellers (depending on the trip, operator and how many others are booked on the trip) and you'll have a group leader with you. Whether you are travelling alone or with friends its good value, and a great way to meet new people! While itineraries are pre-planned there is some flexibility and you'll have plenty of privacy. This trip will appeal to travellers of all ages who enjoy meeting new people as well as seeing new places.

how this holiday makes a difference
The highlight is the setting – a converted traditional farmhouse, overlooking a frozen lake situated in a secluded Norwegian valley. Who needs big chain hotels when locally owned, private accommodation is as good as this? Espedalen is a remote area of Norway, where money from tourism makes a tangible impact on the local economy. By visiting unusual and often undeveloped areas travellers have an alternative to the more conventional winter destinations, where the environment is under serious pressure. You won't find landscapes disfigured with cable cars and bulldozed pistes on this trip – this is unspoilt, pristine wilderness where sustainable principles of tourism are implicitly applied.

Tourism can be good and bad for destinations & local people.

We carefully screen every holiday against our criteria for responsible travel.

'Look behind the brochure' to find how each holiday makes a difference (see left).

We don't claim to be perfect - there is no global accreditation - but we've led the way since 2001 and screened 1000's of holidays.

We invite every traveller to write a review about their experiences and responsible tourism.

This valuable feedback is sent to the people who run the holidays. We keep a very close eye on it and take off holidays that don't live up to our standards.
