the amazing things you'll be doing
If you are a qualified diver, we have scuba-dive packages available with a five star dive centre in Dahab. The following quote from one of our customers encapsulates the quality and atmosphere of this dive centre: "We have been hugely impressed...

The totally professional attitude of everyone involved was balanced perfectly by the relaxed and friendly atmosphere both around the HQ and on the dive trips.' Dahab offers a wide range of shore dives in the Gulf of Aqaba, from shallow gentle dives to deep technical dives in the Blue Hole. On the programme are dive sites such as the Canyon, Bells to the Blue Hole, the Islands, Coral Garden, Eel Gardens, the Lighthouse, Gabr el-Bint, and potentially a boat dive to Napoleon Reef, dependent on weather conditions.

The accommodation is on a B&B basis on the northern side of Dahab's seafront, approx 15 mins walk from the dive centre. This new hotel is designed with a Bedouin ambience, offering clean rooms with en-suite bathrooms, balcony and fantastic sea-views. As part of this Red Sea dive package, a free PADI Coral Reef Conservation speciality course is available on request (excluding PADI certificate).
travellers' tales
We did a camel safari to a dive site where we did two beautiful dives and had lunch at a Bedouin village... We had a really great time and would recommend to anyone. (more)
how this holiday makes a difference
Bedouins generally prefer jobs that don’t tie them down, but at the same time they need a regular income to support their families. Hence many Bedouins work as independent taxi drivers in and around Dahab. Both the hotel and dive centre help to support Bedouins’ traditional lifestyles by using their taxi services and paying them a fair price. In addition, the dive centre made a commitment to employ non-Western staff and have amongst others trained a young Bedouin and Egyptian in-house as a technician maintaining dive gear and as a dive instructor respectively. The hotel employs a nearly all Egyptian staff and has developed close links with local Bedouin families.

The majority of diving in Dahab is done directly from the beach. This has the environmental advantage of minimising fuel and therefore emissions from outboard motors, as well as the absence of waste waters and oil discharge. There is a drive to raise environmental awareness with both customers and staff through the Dive Centre, including making sure divers' buoyancy is neutral so they don't damage the coral during dives and offering regular free clean-up dives. All customers booking this holiday are offered a free PADI Coral Reef Conservation course (theory only, PADI certification fee not included).

Tourism can be good and bad for destinations & local people.

We carefully screen every holiday against our criteria for responsible travel.

'Look behind the brochure' to find how each holiday makes a difference (see left).

We don't claim to be perfect - there is no global accreditation - but we've led the way since 2001 and screened 1000's of holidays.

We invite every traveller to write a review about their experiences and responsible tourism.

This valuable feedback is sent to the people who run the holidays. We keep a very close eye on it and take off holidays that don't live up to our standards.
